How much does the thames enhancement help

This is actually a er...two questions so bare with me.

1. How much does your smash dmg increase by when you have a full thames set that gives the smash enhancement? I've been thinking about replacing my body armor and gloves, but I didn't want to if the damage increase was significant.

2. If it doesn't help too much, should I replace my Imp Thames Plate Armor with a Royal Knight armor in the future? Today I got an Imp ES and put it on my thames. First time I tried with 200 int and an elite magic powder, it gave me a huge fail and I lost 6 durability on it. Now it has 6 instead of the original 12 durability it had. Out of small rage, I tried again and the imp enhance worked, but I digress. A friend keeps telling me I should trade out that for a Royal Knight Armor in the future because the thames lost so much durability. He thinks it's useless now. So, should I follow his advice and get the Royal armor, or keep my thames and live with the 6 durability?

Honestly the defense boosts of Royal is not bad so I kind of thought about it...

15% to smash and assault slash.

Defence is useless because you should be focused on More Dakka. Imp isn't that great either, honestly.

6 dura isn't useless because it's not like 2 dura which is probably the most you'll lose in a mission. I'd personally replace something around ~3-4 dura. And it's not like a thames body is so hard to come by - you can just buy another 3/3 one, or even a smithed 3/3 one if the defence/prot is so important.

What about defense when it comes to end game? Usually by then one would be strong enough where they might want a bit more defense right? I put Imp on the thames as a place holder for now I guess until I find a better enchant maybe.

As for a new thames, I probably could. Just don't have the money for it at the moment. :P

No, you have to get used to the fact that the logic in this game is that best offense is the best defense. By end game, you'll have so much defense from your stats that virtually 98% of the content won't be able to kill you. At any level, especially for enchants, it's best to go max damage.

Honestly though, I'd rather recommend bohemian set. Bohemian set with ss effect can out damage ss + smash than ss + smash with thames. Plus no dex reduction.

Investing in a royal knight armor is dumb in my opinion, as you could get tons of defense even if you have clothes on. Unless you're going for fashionogi, don't get the royal knight armor.

You can't really be strong enough. If I had to choose between 30 more max and 1000 defence, i'd choose then 30 more max. Why? The best defence is not getting hit in the first place - you can dodge arrows and such with evasion/charge/whatever.

One-hitting everything just means that you don't get hit at all, really - and you will never have enough damage to reliably one hit everything in the game, so...

Bohemian Set compared to Thames Set:

Advantages:
- Low initial purchase cost
- Cheap repair fees
- Magnum Shot damage +15%
- Support Shot bonus damage +15%
- Does not reduce dexterity by 35~50% (or) restrict access to accessories

Disadvantages:
- Reduced defense/protection
- Does not provide auto-defense (shunting 50% incoming melee damage on activation while reducing stun duration)
- Hat has pathetic durability
- Does not come pre-reforged (1 Rank), though this applies to both sets
- Does not provide a constant +15% damage bonus to Smash and Assault Slash

I thought that being a tank though would be a good choice though but that makes sense haha.

Correct me if my math is wrong please.

Some maths for you. I don't know what race you are, I'll just write giant values next to the human ones.
r1 smash-500% (600% giant)
smash+thames- 500+15%=575% (600+15%=690%) Basically multiplying base values by 0.15 and adding it to base is the total damage.
Using a two-handed weapon boosts smash by 20% (not additively, multiply base by 1.2)
2h smash+thames=690% total (human) or 828% total (giant) plus 5% more crit from 2h smash, not the armor.

Assault slash at r1 deals 230% with thames effect.

Of course, you won't be taking any damage if your enemies are dead.

The only thing you can possibly want to tank are raid boss attacks that do stupid amounts of damage. It's not so much the inconvenience of taking damage so much as the system that Mabi works by. Knockback and knockdown are time wasting inconveniences and getting hit can cancel your skills, so even if you took 1s from everything you'd still want to avoid taking damage anyway.

I mean, unless you like deliberately taking longer, in which case that's fine.

What if I had both armors and used them interchangeably?

There's nothing wrong except you'd have to enchant, reforge and upgrade 2 sets. Not really viable, especially if you're going for a rank 2/1 reforge.

A maxed out equipment set can cost you upwards of 500 million to over a billion gold.

It also takes time to cycle through equipment during combat. It's easy to switch in/out 1~2 items but an entire set is both dangerous and a waste of time. You can build multiple equipment sets for specific situations, though you'll find that it's generally not worth the effort.

If you really want to "tank" there are two options, though it's always preferable to avoid receiving damage altogether.

(Heavy Defense at no cost to offense; negate heavy damage to 1)
1a. Play as a Giant.
1b. Equip the Thames Set.
1c. Equip a Lance alongside a Vales Shield.
1d. Obtain r1 Defense, Shield Mastery and Heavy Armor Mastery.
1e. Improve strength and health.

(Heavy Damage Reduction with no class restrictions; less effective versus weaker attacks)
2a. Obtain r1 Mana Shield.
2b. Pick up the Mana Shield reforge.
2c. Improve intelligence and mana.
2d. Consider utilizing Mana Reduction equipment and the Holy Eagle Mask.

Pretty much this. Although, there's really not much to reforge for thames. You don't need shieldless charge, cs frags. Maybe you want drop kick or mana shield, but that's about it.

Considering everything I have at the moment, I'll probably stick with thames for now as my main armor since, honestly, I have been using melee a lot more than archery. However, I'm not going to do anything else with the thames. Eventually, I might get a clean Bohemian set, but the enchanting and reforging of the set will probably happen over time.

One thing, if I decided one day to drop my thames for a Bohemian set as my main armor, would it possibly be better to use than thames? I'm thinking by the time I want to opt my thames for a bohemian and start working on that, I would be at least Master Archer and Slayer along with some other skills that may buff my Str and Dex greatly. While the defense of the light clothing set is lower, it would at least keep my dex high so I can do the most damage with my bow, and maybe even allow me to kill before I am killed.

As a melee+range user, I won't say thames is obsolete. It does however, get used less frequently as you level more. I only use it in missions where I know I don't have to range at all.

I'd suggest do try to gear up your thames still. You won't need lots of reforges. Shiedless charge? No need, you got lance charge. Crash shot fragments? No need since you won't range with thames. Drop kick? Don't need since you won't use fighter with thames. Only thing that you could consider is lance charge damage and mana shield reduction on gloves. But then again, not necessary.

So in fact, the only thing you should really reforge is the bohemian set, not thames. For total hybridization, encore champion gamyu's the best, if that's what you're looking for.

And in mabi in general, the main logic is to kill everything and get hit as least as possible.
