I always thought it was the order that you were in the party.
It might be that for taill defense, but with G16 final.... the character's creation date is the factor on who gets Shakespeare, and it leads me to believe it might be the case for this event as well because for all of my runs with my EU guild for the event, i have been stuck with the only other non EU person in EVERY run.
And today i did a very small sample test, and this further is proving my theory.
And by pairing for the event, i mean like...
Two oldest chars, next 2 oldest, so on and so on.

Did you run in the left door without waiting and did the same person come in every time you did this test?
Cus, I think its just whoever gets their first though

You get paired with someone in a 2 person maze. There is no way you can get someone else.

I thought it was the order you load into the maze that determines who you get partnered with...but that might just be me I guess.

This is what I thought.

I dont think so since I've tried purposely being slow with my partner so we could get partnered together and we end up not being partnered even though we're the last oens to enter the maze. The game picks the partners before anyone enters the maze.

Interesting, I wonder why when my guildies and I went as a full group of 8 however we didn't always get the same partner each time and no one left the party or anything...

When I did the run with my friends or guild, I read the character ID from my friend list packet upon log on, and then predict the paring. I got it exactly right every time.
So yeah, I'm pretty sure it is ordered based on character creation. However, for odd-numbered party, determining the person who is going to be soloing would be more tricky though. It almost never be the oldest character (which is always me since my char's ID is #178), and it doesn't seem to be the newest character either.

I thought this too, it is not based on the first few people to talk to Belisha. I think Aubog is on to something.

However it's done, it's determined when the SM is first loaded.
When you get stuck as the Nun, you can use Healing with her wand to obtain Party Healing. Most of the time, the Nun is incapable of targeting herself or her teammate with the spell, but can use it on anyone else. This can be used in the first room to predict who her partner is.
However, there are times when the only person the Nun can target with Party Healing is herself, throughout the entire RP.
Regardless of who she targets, it will heal everyone in range, as normal.
@OP's proposal
I'm not certain of this. It's possible, but I think I remember going in the RP with the same set of people, but ended up paired with different people. It could be that there's a small amount of randomness to it.
