Ok so I'm looking for a cheap to repair but overall nice heavy and light armor something that is blacksmithed for the highest def/prot and has good upgrades? I currently have a Dustin armor that is upgraded however I just want something cheaper and something cheaper to repair.
Thanks in advance

Don't use heavy armor, just don't. Unless it's thames, and it's still only situational.
For light armor, either get lorica from shops (fairly cheap, good dura, so ideal for enchants) or get gamyu for best damage.

If you're looking for a light armor and plan to use gunner. I recommend Languhiris Chaser Armor. Not only does the magic craft bonus give quite a boost to defense and protection, it also gives +4 attack speed. So even if you don't go for gunner, it's still a very nice armor.
If you want to use gunner Chinese dragon armor is pretty nice too.
Gamyu would be the ideal choice for Encore/Champion, but it has no set bonus. It also doesn't give the extra protection and defense bonuses like Languhiris Chaser Armor.

Reason why I suggested gamyu is because att. speed can be attained easily. Slap on automatic on dowra (not meant for burst damage anyways) and viscount on boots. There's your 10 attack speed. If you do want crocodile on dowra, Chinese dragon armor would be the better option, as it's more easily obtained.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, but I think I failed to mention I'm a level 1.6k Wise Mage, I just want an armor set when I don't need Mana reduction.

Whoa there, Heavy Armor is actually pretty decent, I use it to great efficiency.

The extra ping from heavy armor has been a god send to me. The extra protection is a god send. All of heavy armor is a god send. You can't ping+smash/windmill reliably with light armor.
Since OP's a mage, why should he even worry about light armor? With some karis shoes, a broad brim hat and mana witch gloves, your mana reduction is set and you get the benefits of heavy armor, and that's not even counting possible enchants that could be slapped on the hat or shoes for better reduction to replace them with something tankier. I would mention the bonus from construction alchemy, but that doesn't work right now...

That's a very good idea, I would get mana reduction and def/prot. What Heavy armor do you recommend? just remember the repairing can't be too expensive because I also have wands/staves/etc to repair.

Since you're a mage any will do really, personally I'd go for Valencia armor since it has passive defenses and cheaper to repair then a Dustin.

Bhafel Slayer Guard and Royal Knight Armor have high starting defense and protection, though Wiki doesn't say what their repair costs are.

I was in this predicament as well being a warrior/mage. I needed cost efficient armor so I ditched the Dustin and went with Claus Knight Armor about 3k cheaper than Dustin at Edern since it's not magic equip you don't have to chase around Fleta and you can repair at nicca or nerys if your strapped for cash.
Also according to wiki, Valencia is NOT cheaper than a Dustin it's about 4k more to repair. I wouldn't go for it, even with the shiny pd's on it.

To be honest, don't even consider pining into consideration. You really should have enough with shield and heavy armor mastery.
