Ugh, why is this crappy anime so popular?
It's not entirely crappy. They just really rushed it and could have done more, in my opinion, instead of trying to fit two different story arcs into 26 episodes.
Or if they had turned it into less of a harem anime and given the two main protagonists a better relationship.

I watched a handful of episodes on Toonami and the writing is just horrible.
The main character Kirito or whats his face has no faults whatsoever for some reason people think it's cool to make characters this dull.
When I saw last week's episode on Toonami (the end of the world) it gave me a headache that people really like this crap. I'm still trying to understand how that show's horrible writing make sense.
And the thing is .hack// did the whole trapped in a video game scenario way better than Sword Art Online does and without a doubt .hack// is the biggest influence here and I'll even go to say that SAO is a rip-off.
