Has anyone ever had this happen to them? Today I was talking with some friends and I recounted a story about it happening to myself.
The story-
I was a highschool senior, the night before prom. To relieve some of my nerves I went out to the backyard and started jumping on the trampoline with my then-9 year old sister. I did a few frontflips and decided to do a backflip.
This is where things get weird. Mid backflip everything suddenly slowed to a crawl, and a series of thoughts flowed through my head. "I'm falling too fast", "I'm going to land on my head", "That would break my neck", "Broken necks kill people", "I am going to die".
I then moved my head forward, angled my shoulder down, and crashed into the trampoline.
Immediately afterward, I was unable to move or speak, and my little sister, now sounding worried, said "are you ok?, I'll go get mom!" and ran inside.
After a few minutes the paralysis wore off and I was able to sit up, with what felt like an insane amount of effort. By the time I was sitting up my mom was already running out to me along with my little brother and the sister that ran inside for help (my other little sister was developing into a horrible person and didn't care).
Anyway, after about a hour I went to prom anyway, despite hardly being able to walk. I healed up over the next week or so, and had a huge bump on my shoulder according to my GF who rubbed my back for me when she realized what I did. (She also called me an idiot, but that was to be expected)
I think the worst thing was, once I was healed I was right back on the trampoline with my little sister, though I haven't done a flip(back or front) since. I honestly didn't think it was going to be dangerous to do a backflip, I did them all the time just a few years prior.
Ever since then I have been interested in how that happened. There's no way I had enough time to assess my situation and adjust my head and shoulders to avoid breaking my neck, but it felt like I was upside-down for a solid 5 minutes while I calmly planned on how not to die.
Has anyone else ever had something like that happen to them?

This was kind of long ago but in grade 9 in gymnastics, I was playing with those double rings. Like the two white rings that hang on strings from the ceiling. I was trying to do this 360 thing and and I ended up letting go (note it was quite high maybe 2.5mish). I remember really clearly at that moment I knew I was gonna fall. I don't really remember what went on through my head only that I thought I would land on my head. Somehow I managed to rotate my body so that id let on my hands/thighs and absorbed most of the impact. But I do recall the fall being longer than it actually was. Hope this helps.

Not me, I fell off the monkey bar and all I saw was a flash of colorful bars before I landed.

I think one was when I was around 8~10 years old, playing tag outside with some friends I ended up getting hit by a car (I crossed the street when there was a parked truck in front of me, so I didn't see the incoming car.. yea, stupid of me). I remember vividly the "slow spinning" moment when I got hit by the car, and I remember some of the people rushing towards me in a small crowd afterwards.
Oddly enough, after that I simply got up and walked home. The driver was polite enough to offer me/my mom a ride to the hospital, even though I had only minor injuries luckily.
I also didn't get tagged in the game, if you're wondering!
Made of steel!!
A Deer hit my car last week and Ill never forget the look on it's dumbass face as it ran right into my car. I was driving and it was just standing there and as soon as it saw my car it decided the best of course of action would be to run right into it. I hope the deer died for hurting my baby. ;(
