I am proud to present that we, the KR Test Crew, will be the one holding the 2013 Mabination End of the Year Awards! Since we're quite new at this, I hope everyone can take good care of us!
As the newest one to hold the end of the year awards, we will be trying a new system of voting that everyone can hopefully be pleased with. After reviewing the past year, we have come up with a system of voting that will allow everyone, even our guests who frequent Mabination, to participate!
First up is that we will now be doing an anonymous system. An anonymous system, don't we do that already? Well, in this case, the voting system will be handled by our fellow member, Yai, to ensure that everybody will have a chance for an award!
Wait, everyone has a chance? Yes. This year's voting, we will get rid of the nomination system completely, allowing everyone a chance to be voted on completely.
That means no one in particular will be left out because they weren't "nominated" by a person, but rather everyone will have a chance to express themselves.
Here is an example of the voting system that Mabination will use for the end of the year award:

Wait? There's no poll and just a text box? That's correct! The ballot is completely anonymous, allowing everyone who use it to simply type the name of one person in each category to be voted on. Yes, even that really cool guy or fine lady you really notice can be a candidate!
That means no one in nation will have to settle for a pre-determined list of nominees for an award, but rather everyone can vote honestly with who you TRULY feel is the one deserving of that award.
Do you need to register your e-mail or log-in with your Mabination ID? No! That's the charm of it. To keep the ballots anonymous, your e-mail or Mabination ID isn't needed to vote for the upcoming end of the year election. That also means that not even the staff or even us on the KR Team will know who voted for who, allowing everyone an equal playing field, whether you're a member here since the beginning, a new member who joined recently, or a guest who visits now and then.
But why include guest? It is because we at the KR Test Team feel that nationers are not just people who registered with Mabination but also include our wonderful guest who frequent the forums and have not registered, or people who like to lurk.
We want to get as much people to vote in the system to see who is truly deserving of the reward, because we believe that a guest who has noticed that a certain someone has been extremely helpful and deserves the award is as valuable as a member who openly posts and sees a very helpful member.
However, the ballot will only accept your vote only once since it keeps tracks of IPs so there won't be double votes, however once you cast your votes it will be permanent!
This new system will allow us to see what the whole community is really thinking of and will allow us to see who will win the awards this year.

Now some Questions & Answers!
Q1: Why the new System?
In the past, we used to rely on nation polls in order to give end of the year awards, and it worked because back then we were a small community. However the community is growing and a lot of our traffic isn't just from our current registered members but precious guests and other people who may not be in active discussions. This new system is to help cater to a larger crowd while allowing complete trust in the system.
Q2: Will the results be published?
Yes, when the awards will be announced, the database of how many people voted for who will be published. Other than how much each voted person got a vote, there will be no indication, not even an IP who voted for who. It means that if the person you think really should have won the award didn't, then apparently the scope of the community believes he/she hasn't made enough impact as someone else for that award, on the flip side, if the person you think really deserve the award won, it goes to show the community also believes that person should be the holder of that award.
However, we will not be publishing results until the very end. This is to allow everyone the freedom of mind to pick who they want. We do not want people to see who is ahead in the ballots and feel pressured to vote for a person, merely because he/she is winning or he/she needs a few more votes to win. Up until the results are announced, the results will be held.
Q3: Cool, will there be award badges?
Yes! Infact, the template for the reward badges for the year 2013 has already been made and we are waiting for the final categories to be filled out and images made. For those that already have an existing badge from previous years will still retain their badge, but the new badges will be newer and contain the year 2013 in it!
Q4: I made a mistake in voting, I want to redo my vote!
Unfortunately, once you cast your vote, it will already be logged. There is no such thing as taking back a vote. On the same coin, you do not even need to vote for all categories. If you feel that you do not know enough to vote for a category, you can choose to not vote on it, however once you click "submit my vote", you will not be able to go back and edit your vote, including empty categories you choose to ignore! So make sure you are happy with your votes before submitting it.
Q5: What if I am not happy with who won the award?
The system this time is completely anonymous and chosen by the community. Though others can ask you to vote for them as they try to campaign for a reward, the system completely does not recognize anyone particular and with the results with-held until the end, there is no pressure to vote for someone merely to turn the balance of the race.
That is to say, whoever wins is what the community truly believes should win. There will not be any discussions on how people are upset over it, or how person does not deserve it. If you did not win or your friend or favorite did not win, it means that the next year, in 2014, will be the time to step up the game and overwhelm the community for a whole year and demonstrate your full potential!
Also, during the month of voting, for those looking for an award, step up your game and show the community what it means to be a representative of an award!
Q6: What are the categories?
Well, just like every awards, there will be categories. However, we will no longer have a long list of categories like before. A lot of the categories from previous years were joke categories and serve no purpose other than giving an award for an in-circle joke that those outside of the circle may not understand. The Mabination KR Test Crew does not wish an award given just because of an in-circle joke but rather the merit that people chose. So the categories this time will be limited and small, but show deep meaning behind it. The following categories is confirmed:
- Poster of the Year
- Most Helpful of the Year
- Best Guide of the Year
- Best Thread of the Year
- Newcomer of the Year
- Mabination Staff of the Year
- Artist of the Year
- Author of the Year
- Funniest Member of the Year
We will take suggestions for future categories, however we will keep it small and simple. If you want to suggest a category, privately PM kingofrunes, Yai, Herro, Chiyuri, or me for it and we'll decide, but anything crude (such as "sexiest of the year"), or in-circle ("best duckling of the year") will most likely be rejected.
We want to keep the categories simple and clean, but if you want to welcome suggestions, please feel free to.
Q7: I won a badge from a previous event/end of the year award and never got it? Why?
Unfortunately, the KR Test Crew only have power to create badges for this event and we will definitely award it. For past end of the year awards or nation events will have to be discussed separately! Sorry!

There you have it, we hope you guys take good care of us since it's our first time doing this and we hope to have a great end of year awards for the year of 2013!
More information will be released later!
Thanks,
Kr Test Crew
