It says low chance with Tikka bait and Tikka cane but I don't have access to Tikka so I was wondering if the Courcle bait would suffice.

As far as I know, you have a chance to tame any animal within it's restriction (such as the skill rank, but not the cane).

So, you may succesfully tame it with first tried or you may ended up about hundred or thousand tired.

Also, some of the bait information are pretty old. Things have come a long way from back then. There are now new baits available.

Would advise you to look into one of these:
- Shrimp Taming Bait (6 taming bonus, Novice Cooking is enough)
- Taitinn Carp Taming Bait (7 taming bonus, Needs Rank C cooking)
- Hot Spring Taming Bait (10 taming bonus, best bait so far, Needs Rank 9 Cooking BUT not a guaranteed reward).

The Shrimp one seems pretty accessible [Shrimp (30%) Sugar (38%) Garlic (32%), everything can be bought] so try it out.
