To spice up their gameplay? Maybe add some new skills that add to the variety. Like an attack similar to bullet slide for archers? Maybe add tweak final hit to where you can use any skill during it?
Sorry if this turned into a suggestion thread. I really wanted to hear what everyone else thinks though. Maybe its time to mix up the tried and true magnum/crash or windmill/smash spam gameplay. Spice things up. Tweak old skills like final hit.
Make it like final shot and let you use smash or windmill while in it. Add a giant version. Add some completely new skills that aren't meh and are just ranked only for dex and then forgotten about. Make them something that when they are put in you think "how did I ever play with out this." I know archer and melee are simple skillsets but if anything devcat has creativity. I'm sure they can come up with something!?!?!?
What do you guys think? Should their be a hero for these two old skillsets? What should they add? What should they change/buff/nerf??

Maybe someday. They won't have just revamped skills. They must actually add a different playstyle like the current heroes.

Puppet only uses the same stats. Doesn't really make it the hero as it doesn't add to the bow or sword and shield or lance etc gameplay.
I love puppetry its a very nice change of pace and kind of reminds me of mecha. But I want some more ways to battle using a bow or a sword/lance. They are all so strait forward and it kind of drags. (Never going to change to another skillset though I love my bows)

Even with magic/alch revamp, melee and range is good for where it is now.
I wouldn't exactly expect there to be a hero for either classes, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do release it.

I don't want to get off topic (I couldn't help myself, I like ancient weaponry) so, to answer OP, I can only hope they give melee and archers a Hero, because they're my bread and butter personally. I can't help but agree that if they even happen it will be later. Those two have a nice spot on the talent tier, so I think we should let the other talents get some love.

I don't think adding weapons would be considered off topic since weapons have been added in hero updates. (diva instruments, alch shield, knuckles) Sounds like a good a idea. Would separate tanks from damage dealers even more and add more ways to play this game and keep your character diverse from others

Polearms would be really neat. With shields it could be a kind of tanky, midrange class
I feel like Melee and Archery are pretty decent as is though. They aren't like Magic and Alchemy, where they really needed a change to make them attractive to players. I'm sure we'll eventually get a hero for Archery/Melee eventually. My guess is they'll have one to cover all classes

It wouldnt be a surprise if a range and melee hero comes out but im wondering what other talent can pair with it? And melee and archer is quite decent and more skills for melee isnt really ideal imo. Although range can use a few more skills, there really isnt that many variations of skills for a bow.
My range/melee hero would be ...
Weapon Master : Close Combat + Knight + Martial Art
Hunter : Range + Carpenter + Adventure
