And dammit, I'm getting a reliable gaming desktop. I'm not sure what specs I should be looking for in the upper middle of performance, but I do know that, factoring in that there will be many things on sale that day, I'm trying to keep my budget around 600-800 bucks. Is that overly optimistic? Should I even count on Cyber Monday for lessening the blow to my wallet?

I think lenovo has better laptops than what alienware offers but if you really want some reliable gaming with decent specs. Either build like suggested because its not going to cost much and you could just have some local company or person build for you for a price all you need is the parts. Or you could order a custom made for like 600 to 900 bucks or something or just get branded for that price..
