Hello there!
It's that time of year when I get back into Mabinogi and then I miss a ton of updates. And then I have no idea what I should be doing. Bah...
Now then, let's get to the nitty gritty. I am currently a Close Combat Talent as of right now before I rebirth. Even though I still have skills to level in the combat tab (most are Rank 5+), I am growing fairly bored with it and am planning on completing it at a later date. (I might shoot my computer if I do the talent again).
I've currently been going between fighter, gunner, and puppetry. But I also have seen there is the Magic Mastery 2x Training event going on as well. So, I'm all thrown up into a loop of confusion.
So, question!
-- What talent would go fairly well with the close combat skills I have ranked?
And... here's a random question (because I am curious):
-- Is alchemy actually worth doing now? The last time I played, I noticed it wasn't the best to do.
Any suggestions are welcome too!

Alchemy is more worth to do it now, although I'd still save it for later.
I honestly suggest you just continue on with melee. Don't branch into other things when you don't have a skillset near completion.
Just stay in close combat/lance combat talent.

If you're really bored with melee, I would go puppetry. It's fairly easy even with a completely new character, and your strength from melee skills will be a bonus
I wouldn't magic right now unless it really interests you. As a skillset, it's not really hard to train, and the ap costs are high.

If most of your skills are r5+, you don't have to force yourself to train anymore. At the point, melee is strong enough to be used in HM missions and passively train itself. I've never even been on the puppetry talent and I have most of the skills at r1 just by using them in random missions/dungeons.
Also keep in mind that all the talent is good for is double training exp. You can still use weapons related to other talents so the purpose of the switch is ideally going to be for training another skills set that you have your mind set on. Don't let that stop you from trying new skills and having fun in general with other weapons.
You didn't specify what skills in the close combat talent you have ranked. I'm going to assume you haven't trained knight skills (lance) so I would suggest moving to that. Otherwise, I would go with puppetry (crisis op) or music (overture op).
Regarding alchemy: Atm, its a fairly decent skill set damage wise. My main peeve with alchemy is that you will need another set to use it effectively since the enchants take up slots that could otherwise be used for max dmg. To put it simply, alchemy and melee don't mix well.

definitely do warrior first and finish that up to a degree you are happy with. Then if you're interested in fighter, it's a good class with everything so theres really nothing wrong with doing that. When you have sufficient strength, try doing some dex skills and trying puppet out. Completely avoid mage though because that is the biggest ap sink in the game.
