  I clocked in about 1.1k hours in it since like... 13-14 months ago, and I have to say, I still suck...really bad....
  
  It's a very hard game to even play (consistently) decent (not bad, not good, just decent) as a casual player which is why I understand why people like LoL better.

  Edit - And Nexon KR is doing a superb job and trying to get people into DoTA

  Also, DotA2 is definitely the most balanced MOBA out there. LoL is more focused on pushing out new content (which leaves the game crazy unbalanced) while DotA2 is focused on balancing heroes before releasing anything new. Hell, the last 2 months (other than the diretide update) have been almost solely balance patches every 2 weeks.

  DOTA2 is balanced more favorably because heroes in DOTA emphasize on their strengths so they actually have weaknesses unlike LoL where everyone doesn't have a clear weakness or gimmick to counter. There's also different types of snowballing in the two games, where LoL seems more out of control since mages can scale up to late-game with AP whereas DOTA only gives you more mana for stacking Intellegence unless you're Skywrath Mage or something and you just stop the enemy from getting gold by taking it away from them when you kill them.
  
  Then again they're both different MOBAs and each have their good sides to them.
