i used to get a lot of free Nx, but it becomes annoying and the more you do stuff there, the less Nx you get.
Use a sandbox environment and install some programs that pay for a try, 20% of them will really reward you, the rest are just scams (don't lose your time sending tickets to solve those issues, they won't do anything).
Do some surveys, they work 50% of the time, but the time you have to invest on those is high, unless you know what to answer (that's where a survey database comes in handy, sadly i know none)
Lately free Nx offers sux, lats time i did stuff there got nothing, none of the offers paid what they promised. I used to get 10k-20k Nx per week 2 years ago, now thats kinda impossible unless you try the "pay for this and get Nx" offers, which is pretty much the same as buying the cards.

It is and it isnt. Like Paradise said, the more you do, the less there is to get. And some don't pay/take too long. Sometimes you can get lucky and get a lot in a short amount of time. However, in general, working for an hour or two and buying the nx, is pretty much always going to be more efficient timewise. Where the free Nx really shines is in that you can do it any time, at 3 in the morning, while playing mabi, while watching a movie/tv etc...
I used to try for a large amounts at once the minute pets/cards came out, but I found it's much easier to do it for a minute or two each day while waiting for parties/rafts/etc..., and keep a reserve of nx for when I really really want something. I like prize site like swagbucks better though :3

They banned me from it because of some stupid billing issue that wasn't even my fault, haven't bothered to write a ticket. But working > nexon free offers and there's a ton of bad egg offers in there also which can trip you up if you have never done it before.

I used to try these free offers from time to time and when they first came out I really did get some nx here and there but now it's not only a waste a time but potentially dangerous. I once downloaded some silly facebook picture zoom program just to install it and readily remove it. I knew it was adware/spyware but I got hooked by the potential nx that I just did it anyway.
Naturally it was a huge mistake and it took me almost 5 days to get that dirty program and spyware off my system (which I learned keylogs and reports back what websites you go to, specifically things like facebook, your bank website, payal, etc.) Anyway in the end I didn't get any nx and only the horrible experience to just sticking to buying it. I assume as long as Nexon gets money they dont care if kids load up their parents computer with a bunch of ad/spyware. Well the lesson here is READ the EULA and know what you are downloading before you click >next>agree>install

No. Do not even consider it unless you like getting angry over offered that do not work.

I've always seen it as a waste of time especially as I have a paying job >.>

I did the Netflix one once. I think that is the only non-shady, guaranteed to work offer on there.

Do the survey offers. In my experience those consistently award NX if you successfully complete them, but you're gonna need to do a bit of thinking and experimenting to qualify for them (e.g. saying you're a certain age or race or gender, etc) and spend a bit of time filling them (something like 10~20min per survey for like 700~900 NX). I mostly go to Peanut Labs or the survey section under Gamecoins.

I personally go for the videos and surveys. I make different e-mails for any of the high-paying ones that have worked for me in the past.
I used to use things like 10MinuteMail for survey emails, but most survey offers filter that out now. Sandboxie is also a really good program to get for installation surveys. Spare yourself the adware and the like. [Image: http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m9gcydr8nN1qzckow.gif]

time to money wise, better to work somewhere at minimum wage for 1-2 hours and buy the nx then spend the time doing surveys just saying~

It definitely is more efficient.
However, you with free Nx and other prize sites, you can do them for minutes at a time whenever you have free time (like the middle of the night, on a commercial break, while waiting at stonehenge for a party etc...)
