No idea, business wise Netflix is actually a perfectly reasonably expansion target, I hear some companies blew their resources on ventures that has nothing to do with their original business, but Netflix is as close to BlockBuster as it gets in term of business, the only difference is online and if I have extra cash to expand the business Netflix is pretty much the dream expansion.

If Blockbuster picked it up, their huge business and name would guarantee the success of Netflix. Even with the money they could make from it, they were most likely afraid it would destroy their other traditional rental business. They chose to pretend Netflix didn't exist and hope it died by itself.
