If anything they should just give everyone 10 pons. They don't lose much revenue since 10 pons won't get you much, and that is actual compensation. Sure some players who didn't spend anything get pons, but this wouldn't be the first time they reimbursed stuff (like NX) to people when they weren't affected by anything to deserve it. I remember getting compensation NX before and I was never affected by whatever glitch it was they fucked up with (forget what...black robes maybe?). It would still be better than slapping people in the face by making them pay for their compensation.

They should at least give a bigger discount on pon if it supposed to be some kind of compensation...

Not possible? More like too lazy and expensive for head management to put in an effort to direct their staff to do it properly.

As an update to the previously promised reimbursement, we have discovered that due to certain internal restrictions, such action is not possible.
I like how so many comments seem to be assuming this is referencing the game's code/design.
It's more likely to be that KR Nexon won't let NA Nexon do it. NA apparently has to have the OK from KR to distribute compensation. I don't believe that the system is as strict when it comes to discounts, so this is probably the best NA could do under the circumstances.
That said, it
is a pretty meager discount. Perhaps any higher, and they would have had to get permission from KR?

I do not believe you are correct.
From a logical standpoint, which would you as a company prefer to authorize? A refund of $500 spread across a specific 100 customers you know you've wronged, or allow a blanket discount for a set period?
I have to believe it's far more likely they do/did not track what you do with Pons once you have them, which seems silly, but you have to consider that to them the transactions are already done once you
buy the Pons. Tracking what you do with them at that point may not have mattered to them since it was limited to such frivolous things. There was nothing to abuse them on, no way to spend them on other people so no way to 'steal' them. This is more or less the one scenario in which tracking Pon usage would've ever been practical or useful at so granular a level. (Internally they can track how often each product is purchased without having to track who did it or when, if they even care for that much info).

My post isn't based on a belief.
It's well-known that NA has to get the OK from KR to do basically anything KR hasn't already done (and even a few things KR
has done). Freely distributed compensation in the past has always had to go through KR first, which is why returned items/compensation were rarely distributed in a reasonable time, if they ever got distributed at all.
KR doesn't give NA much flexibility.
The alternative you suggested is also a possibility, but remember that NA has been known to distribute compensation more or less in good faith that you aren't lying to them. That's why they ask for screenshots of lost items, and so on. It's also probably part of the reason the compensation crap happens between KR and NA.

I should've been clearer; That was not what was being debated.
My disagreement was with that as the reason compensation isn't being given here in this specific instance, which
is a matter of belief.
I believe they would've been given the OK for this, because it's an absurdly small recompense for an honest mistake. I just don't believe it was physically possible to identify who was owed how much.

Then I suppose I should have been clearer, as well. My post was responding to the idea that Nexon literally can't/is too lazy to distribute pons outside from selling them in the item shop, because of how they were implemented in the game, rather than because they don't have a guarantee people aren't just trying to get free pons.

Well at least we both agree on something, if not the real-why-not. :cheer:

Also, because Pon are just an in-game counter, maybe it is harder to track then just money? It isn't linked to your account the same way as NX, I think. NX, you can log into website, and see it. Pons, you can't see it on website.

I really hate nexon but being able to turn a fuck-up into additional revenue takes a special kind of skill.

Not really so much a skill as a lack of conscience.
