Water cannon vs flamer?

Usually, Alchemy is rather weak against multiaggros. Although you say Flame Burst is AoE, windmill is an even better choice since its loading time is much shorter at .8 seconds, and its angle is 360 degress instead of Flame Burst's 45(?) degrees.

Conclusion: Water Cannon is a better option IMPO

Apples and Oranges, kind of. They do two separate things very well.

In terms of flat DPS I think WC is better on a single target. If you have time to charge all 5 then Flamer is far and away superior damage on a single target. After that burst WC can charge and shoot for good effect but flamer is going to be slow killing. The only reason one would use flamer there is for it's AoE crowd controlling goodness.

I prefer flamer, personally. It's just more fun~

Flamer is insanely OP at rank 1+High critical+Enchants. It's also insanely useful as a supportive tactic for flamesmash. Bypassing PD=<3
But you should get WC up beforehand~

From what ive heard, Flamer, or Flame Burst ignored protection when caluculating critical?

WM. as I said, even with a smaller radius and range, r1 wm still takes .8 seconds to load compared with the longer (sorry i don't know exact number, and too lazy to look it up on wiki) charge time of flamer. Also, try using flamer when you're being attacked from two monsters who are more than 45 degrees apart, lol.

Windmill, you can also charge while you're knocked down. This is probably the biggest thing, because I can easily kill Shadow Alchemists because of their epically stupid AI: Knockdown > Ice to lure > Counter for 2nd knockdown > Smash.
The Shadow Alchemists try to charge Flame Burst on the 2nd knockdown, and it takes long enough for me to hit them with smash and repeat the process.
