I find out you can't use Phantasmal chorus unless you have a mic/instrument equipped. Kinda makes singing pointless :/

Kinda old news if you kept up with the Diva info bit in foreign content. It's main point is so you can buff yourself without switching weapons.

If phantasmal chorus doesn't get music buff from both skills, then its just as pointless as encore.

I don't see why it's 'pointless' just because you need an instrument to benefit fully. That's like complaining that you need to equip a weapon to do more damage.

It does, so yes its not useless its just not as good as it was in the begining.

the point of singing, as everyone states, is being able to use music buffs without using instruments/mics
it was annoying b4, it was either switching weapons on-the-fly, or focusing on 1 tab for a while
this skill is just wonderful
Using "advance" music skills with no mics/instruments is kinda unfair, its like using FB or HS with any weapon equiped

But normal Singing/Playing gets music buff from both skills, so it's still pointless.

How's it pointless? You might have a leg to stand on if this was just another bard skill, but no, you use it WITH other bard skills so it can only be a bonus. Unless there's a time when you WOULDN'T want to activate it?
Personally, I find the practical uses of grapple shot, wire pull, focused fist (lol displacement), at least half of the bard skills, mana crystallization, the magic shields, gold strike, support shot, winemaking, and trans mastery to all be heaps more 'pointless' than this skill. This one's not that bad at all.

They don't stack and they don't seem to take in consideration music buff duration enchants/talent bonus.

I'm having problems following the conversation here.
Is Singing the useless skill or is Fantastic Chorus the useless skill?
I thought singing adds to the instrument playing buff so you would have +30 if you have r1 singing and r1 instrument playing and you use a buff with an instrument?

Singing
+ able to use any advanced bard song with any weapon equipped
+ takes in consideration music talent bonuses and enchants such as skill duration and buffs
- Can't use scrolls without a instrument/mic equipped
- Doesn't take in consideration instrument buffs since there's no need of having one equipped
Playing instrument :
+ takes in consideration music talent buff, enchant buffs and singing skill music buff
+ higher buff % due reforges and instrument upgrades & enchants
+ For those who care, can use scrolls with
- Double edged sword as requires weapon switching to instrument and sacrifices 1 slot for the instrument
Chorus :
+ Life anthem
+ Sorrow sonata (because decreasing enemy stats is important.......... nah)
+ Takes in consideration singing, playing instrument, talent and enchant music buffs
- Requires instrument to cast
- AoE, which means if you move out of the circle you'll lose the buff
- Doesn't seem to take in consideration music duration buffs
- Doesn't stack regardless how many chorus are laid down
Encore
+ not having to rank this shit
- shit
tl;dr
playing instrument > singing > chorus > shit > taming > encore

I'm not understanding this 'doesn't stack' thing. You mean with itself? If so, why would it? No other buff skills stack or can be combined together.
And what's with the notion that a skill needs to be increased through the roof by every type of boost under the sun in order to be usable? The baseline skill still seems pretty good to me, nevermind the fact that it's just a bonus that you can use WITH Overture, etc, rather than INSTEAD of them.

Im not talking of numbers, what i meant, for example, if you lay down a overture chorus and then play enduring performance without chorus, the overture circle will be there visually but only enduring takes effect. Same happens if you use encore to cast 2 chorus, only the lastest one takes effect (which makes encore useless besides doing dischord > encore > dischord)
Plus and again for example, if you use overture with a instrument you'll have the same overture % as with chorus, you'll have a overture without area bounds and your overture will last longer. So if it's to have a instrument equipped better just use overture than cast chorus (after all sorrow sonata debuff is close to none)

Singing doesn't get music buff from something like a gloomy so its only really useful in solo situations. You get the same buffs with playing music as you get with chorus, with the added benefit of a debuff on the enemies. Honestly shouldn't have to worry about losing the buff if your in something like MA so why not use it if your going to use an instrument anyways? While chorus isnt extremely useful, it has its uses.
