It's quite simple actually. The new lore is that the Druids of Erinn have developed a way to harness the power of Palala and Eweca and place that power inside of special spheres which act as a focal point to the gate in order to power it at all times of the day without Palala's or Eweca's power. Also possible that Palala and Eweca's power charges those spheres during the times it's active to keep them charged.
So no this doesn't break the lore and is easily explained by looking at the new spheres that were added to the moongates/mana tunnels. We actually got the revamped look earlier than when it was introduced in KR.

So in other words it works for whatever reason we come up with because Nexon or devcat for that matter is completely ignoring any canon and continuity they made up and probably doesn't care to. Or they might shoehorn some information into an npc or something later.

The Lore and Storyline is something that Devcat is terrible at keeping continual due to them constantly adding things and switching directors. It's why the storyline in general is so broken up with many plot holes that may not get tied up until 2 or 5 years later while more holes and questions pop up.
Each new director that came to Mabinogi has had a different idea on where the story should go.

I think MMORPG lore never stays consistent. For instance in Vindictus' lore there were originally 5 heroes yet now they added Vella, Hurk, and Lynn. Unless of course they're non canon, [S]because I never had followed the Vindictus storyline fully.[/S]

Vindictus is a poor example as it's also done by devcat. Give me a game with inconsistent lore that isn't done by devcat. WoW seems to be the only other candidate I see in that regard.
Runescape on the other hand has done a super job keeping it's lore in check and expanding upon it.

Well considering we might be able to start to rebirth into different races and end up getting different skills anyway like how Shakespeare has mirage missile and how Maike has final hit....

(Just getting back from the college semester not playing mabi) Does one have to tag all of the new gates in order to be able to use them, or is like with elves/giants that they get all of them after doing a couple of beginner quests?
