Magic Scholar (Saga 5 / Scouting Zardine problem)

  I seem to be running into an issue with the Scouting Zardine quest. Everything is fine when I click through the responses and and get the Magic Scholar to follow me..
  
  Until he stands there, twitching like a stupid glitch. I can't seem to get him to follow me no matter what angle I talk to him at or how far away I walk. He just stands there, twitching and trying to walk forwards. Normally I would simply ignore this and move on in my life, except I would like to stop mooching off of my friends to get into the mines/nature reserve for my life skill addiction and I have to complete Saga 5 for that. Is this because of a monster server issue? I knew that happened in shadow missions but I'm finding it difficult to time when the server isn't busted.
  
  Is there anyone that can offer advice for this other than to keep CCing and checking the quest?
  I'd really appreciate any help, thanks.

  All you can do is to keep CCing and reentering until you get "lucky".

  I cc'd a bunch of times and finally the scholar followed me. >:l Smashed him with a bunch of built-up anger.
