Yato is a minor god whose dream is to have a lot of followers worshipping him and praying to him. Unfortunately, his dream is far from coming true since he doesn't even have a single shrine dedicated to him. To make things worse, the only partner he had to help him solve people's problems, had just quit the job. His godly existence and luck just might change when he stumbles upon Iki Hiyori and saves her life; a feat which also leaves her in quite a predicament so she is stuck with him until her problem gets resolved. Together with Hiyori and his new partner-weapon Yukine, Yato will do everything he can to gain fame, recognition and just maybe, one shrine dedicated to him, as well.

Since the anime is out, I'll just post my thoughts about this.
Basically, a girl meets a minor God when he was looking for a cat. I can recommend this anime to those bored of the Winter season lineups and those who are not too picky about animation quality.
I had the wrong idea about the first part of the story, so it was really fine. The girl who was bullied wasn't an important character in the whole story.
In the manga, the girl was constantly bullied by people for being absent from school most of the time and receiving special treatment from the teachers. She was crying in the school female toilet and saw a message on the right cubicle wall (from Yato advertising his services) and called the number. At that time, it was exam period, so the school was infested with demons that would entice the depressed people into despair/suicide and Yato actually saved her using his old divine weapon, Tomoe.
He solved her problem of being bullied by other people by cutting away her ties with the people around her (only after his spirit weapon quarrelled with him over him not doing much to help though). Instead of them feeling hatred for her, she became an outsider to them. However, that divine weapon (Tomone, the lady in kimono and a scarf) was fed up with this (because it seemed cruel) and was also sick of the way Yato was (basically someone with no status and also had no motivation to help people properly). Yato released her and so he was left without a divine weapon for a very long time.
It seemed to me that Yato actually ended up solving her problem and allowed her to take the next step to re-establish ties with the other people who used to bully her. Yato is a very interesting character who I feel is often misunderstood. He is emotionally-detached and his actions may seem cruel but I think there is deeper reason for whatever he does.
Hiyori, who is unrelated to the girl at the start of the story, met Yato while he was looking for the cat.
There was one section of the OP (basically the start of the chorus of the song) which I felt they could have made more exciting instead of just shining camera angles at the three main characters of the story.
Animation was so-so, not so great but I am pretty sure this will be sustained by the story and comedy. I'm only worried that they would take a few more liberties with the story here (I'm looking at Kazuma who's not supposed to be a high school student who dislikes Hiyori) instead of being true to what Noragami originally was.
