You live near a large city yes? We have this every winter, it's the amplification of what people call the city glow.
Snow reflects light, orange light from the streetlights and city lights and then casts it on the clouds in the sky.
On certain nights, you can walk outside and it will be very well lit. Snow is amazing.
I live in the middle of one, so.. yeah. I'm quite familiar with the effect in general, where snow reflects street lights from the ground, and snow/clouds in the sky reflect/scatter the light from the city as well.
But this case was really weird because the light was so strong, and it was uniform across the window (as opposed to you clearly being able to see that only the sky and ground are lit brigther than they should be). Visibility was very poor.. I could pretty much only see the orange outside. A snow cloud must have parked its butt on my building or something.

Must be nice to have snow...
Snow is nice, except when you have to go to work in nice clothes and the sidewalks are full of brown slush. Luckily I can be lazy and work from home when I don't feel like sacrificing slacks to dirt and road salt. ):
And since people are talking about weather... it's -9C here atm (16 F).
