Like from other party members, I'm heavily mage these days, so I have no use for battle overture. What I really need is a good vivace or enduring buff, but seeing how most 90% of mabi is physical dmg e-peen, that will mostly never happen.

Wasn't Overture eventually supposed to affect magic attack some time after the magic overhaul?

Not by a whole lot, and agreed with OP, do the same for Healing and Cloud healing as well.

I disagree.
My firebolt damage is buffed by an extra 3-5k dmg with a 26% overture. However Vivace would benefit most mages, so I do agree with OP's idea.

Or allow up to two bard songs of different types in the entire party to stack at a time (different types to avoid double overture, etc)

Mm, I always thought Battlefield helped out with magic damage, but I do try to buff party members accordingly to suit their fighting styles. If I can't use Enduring Melody, I compensate with a Phantasmal (Fantastic, but I think Phantasmal chorus sounds cooler. 8D).
Party members should speak up if they want a different buff, though. :o

Yeah, it'd be great if Mabi let different buffs stack. xD Would've been an even better bard update than what Diva gave us. Maybe.

I'm not sure... I would probably have disregarded bard completely had it not been for micless singing at r5. It's basically made the rest skill obsolete since I can just sing an enduring melody whenever. Singing overture helps quite a bit during commerce to help make up that lost damage %.
It would be fun to see a party with each person at r5+ song and a r1 buff skill each use their skill at the same time - everyone running fast with buffed defense/recovery/damage and charging/fighting faster at sleeping/enthralled mobs.

Overture affects Firebolt by about a factor of 40% of what the screen says. So a 40% overture gives 15% or so extra Firebolt damage.
Also Hailstorm and Firebolt really appreciate the Crit from Battlefield as well and Mabi's base MP regen is too low to really notice the Enduring buff.
Vivace is actually really bad imo even for mages. You'll barely notice the extra speed on Firebolt unless you have a cast speed reforge, and while a faster Hailstorm load is nice, it doesn't affect crystal time.

Well yes, I was thinking more in particular only Phantasmal Chorus and Encore when I said bard update. Whoopsie. x) I do love how rank 1 singing's 15+ music buff effect stacks with rank 1 playing instrument's.
And yes, all those stacked buffs would be amazing. *- * Definitely hilarious. xD

Most party members are normally not mages or alch's. If they are I can understand it, however if I'm buffing, an increase in my damage by a good 400 max will probably benefit the party more then a little bit faster charging speed for the mages and alchs. If vivace gave some kind of magic damage increase then I would gladly compensate the mages in the party (if there is a good amount of them) but that casting speed isn't really very beneficial to a party with mostly or a good chunk of people that can benefit from overture. If you could buff yourself only that would be a good thing to put in I guess, however it would completely destroy the reasoning behind using instruments for buffs at this point.

My overture raises my flame damage by a good 500 per tick on a non crit, and my gunner max by like a lot. Considering overture aids Alchs, Lancers, fighters, rangers, puppets, gunners, and just about everything but magic it's predominately used, can't really complain about it when that overture is prabably helping the party more than the vivace.
If you don't want to do with the parties overture just go solo the mission.

You could just play a Chorus with Overture to get rid of your mana problems. Overture benefits more people than Vivace anyways.

I just tested overture and magic damage, without overture I hit 29919 crit with hail, with I hit the exact same.
I tested with other spells, it does nothing, overture is purely physical damage. Sorry for the bump.
But overall, I'd rather have vivace or enduring on me at any time, the extra 600% mp regen from enduring really helps with chorus, my beautiful mp regen armor, and medi. Doing mage with infinite mp is pretty handy.

Pretty much. Also I'd also rather throw up an Overature to shoot my Gunner Damage up an extra 300-400. It would be nice if 2 different music buffs could stack but I can also see that being easily OP like for end-game gunners for instance. Vivaced and Overatured Gunners with Taunes on top of a speed set will be quite OP in damage, outclassing any other type of gunner.
So really, as much as I like mages and alcs as the next person, you really got to stop and think about the cause and effect of what you're asking and what it will do for the likes of archery, gunning, puppetry, and melee who primarily overature.

Also agree with this. Frankly, whenever people try and throw up Enduring, I try and overwrite it to boost my damage up significantly as I don't like having my damage nerfed when it'll probably do more than it takes for that mage to charge up their magic. I'm sorry but it's just true :(

I really wish we had buff icons for music buffs that appear under our HP bar with toggle-able effects. Being able to buff only yourself if you hold shift or something would be really great as well.
