  Youtubers didn't kill it, Nintendo's just a bunch of babies, they cried when people showed interest in their dying console line.

  I think you're forgetting how successful the Wii and Nintendo was in the 7th gen.
  And Sakurai said the reasoning was because he wanted to put something special for the players, and the players alone.

  But Sakurai uploaded the picture himself.
  He's the creator and alway has been the head honcho of the Smash Bros series, and yes he was the one that said that the new Smash Bros game won't include Subspace Emissary
  
  Fun Fact: There's a Shin Megami Tensei character that shares Masahiro Sakurai as an homage or something.
