Hello !
I've heard from my guild that magicians are both very hard to train and very underpowered. Is that true ? What do you think ?

They recently got revamped, and mage isnt hard to train at all. I'm too lazy to list everything that happened to them, but ur friend is either completely wrong or misled on mages.

What gears did he have on the Lightning Bolt one?
Magic is in a really good place, in fact, I think it's at worst the 3rd best talent in Mabinogi, though it falls off in late game until we have more sources of MATK and they rework Battlefield Overture or Vivace where magic has a similar damage steroid to physical skillsets, or we get some other source of %-based damage amplification similar to reforges.
Still, Magic is incredibly versatile, and hits very heard, and once you max it out, you'll deal excellent burst damage, especially in parties with Crisis. It's definitely very, very costly though, especially if you Firebolt spam.

Woah xD, how can he spam so fast MULTIPLE CHARGES xD ?
And what kind of revamp did magic got ? Just curious.

The only hard part about training Magic is getting enough AP. Getting all the
Magic Skills to Rank 1 requires over
4000 AP.

Mage is easy to train. The hard part is the AP needed for them XD
I think the best thing in the revamp is from (20 int = 1 matk) to (5 int = 1 matk) and the new skills, Snap Cast and Spell Walk which make mages more flexible, not a sitting duck while charging anymore. There's also magic weapon mastery, which give damage boost to bolt and to magic overall (with it's master title)
There should be many more, but I don't really remember.
Is the cast speed fix already land on us or not?

Reforges, KR connection, and cc wand.
Magic got a huge revamp due to better magic attack scaling and magic weapon mastery.

I don't have any Magic Attack enchants. Only Hailstorm and Magic Attack reforge on the staff.
And my Blaze does more.

4/10 do not recommend. In all srsness, I rarely find myself using magic anymore, perhaps that's just my playstyle; but it seems magic gets left behind in your average run where things are cleared instantly. HOWEVER. Mages can be very viable tanks, and still able to be mobile with skills like spell walk. So ultimately, magic caps out at a point where reforges are your only option for significant development, but a strong mage is still a welcome sight in a majority of NPC runs/ cooperative teams.

Depends on the run.
Magic dominates two meta-relevant areas of content: Taillteann Defensive Battle (Snapcast FB first spawn, load FB every spawn, repeat for 18 mins) and Martial Arts (You can load up Hailstorm and outdamage almost any single crit Act 7 in the game with your NORMALS, and you get 6-7 shots of that over the duration). It falls behind a bit in Lord Scathach because of non fixed spawns, and haven't played Hostage/Convoy enough to really tell. Firebolt spam is great for normal content but not top tier, and will get you through pretty much everything. Your other stuff is good depending on the situation, and Snapcast gives you a lot more options (and that 2 minute cooldown really isn't that long).
It might need some additional tuning (Hail needs a bigger splash, magic enchants needs to get the same 4x treatment as MATK from int and titles, and Firebolt should probably trade some of its base for better scaling) but it's a strong pick right now.

For me it seems like something that's very weak/difficult to start, but later with advanced magics and stuff becomes OP.

Magic can be very powerful to a new player especially for new elf because of the access to hide. Due to all the AP Nexon throws at new characters you can easily rank
Firebolt at 109-148 AP depending upon race.
Fire Mastery at 156 AP
Magic Weapon Mastery at 152 AP
Magic Mastery at 91 AP
Mana Shield at 146 AP
Bolt Mastery 124 AP
A new character can level up to 300 for free so if you take advantage of it and rebirth at level 299 You can get around 399 ap just from leveling not counting any exploration that you may have done. You also get 74 ap from g1, 40 ap from g3, 80 ap from g17, and 280 ap from saga. So a new character will end up with around 800 ap. All those skills combined takes 687-728 ap depending upon race. With a CC4 wand you will be able to hit around 2-4k with a fire bolt and you have mana shield as well so you will be able to take hits if needed. The only downfall will be the lack of aoe and mana pots can get expensive.
Also if your an elf you will not have to worry at baol infiltration because of the access to hide.

I feel like battle overture buff works on magic. I notice my fire bolts doing more damage when under the buff.
Either that or I have crazy low balance
