Hey guys, I recently started ranking up blacksmithing and I've noticed that a lot of weaving materials (leather, thread) are required to make some things, but others do not. I was wondering if it its possible to get to r1 Blacksmithing without using any weaving mats? My weaving is only rF and I don't want to waste a week by switching my talent to rank it up, as I've heard its pretty difficult.
I'm aware that using no weaving mats (if possible) would make it more difficult, but I love mining/doing metallurgy, so I really don't mind the extra cost.

Unless you have about 50 million to spend on the weaving materials, I personally would not attempt this. In terms of difficulty, I would consider weaving to be a hundred times easier than blacksmithing :<
However! Passion has the potential to take you anywhere in this game so I would say while expensive and laborious, it certainly is possible!

Took me 12.5m with an exp 10 hammer and a 2x training event+talent so probably around 30m but ya the point is its still alot of money.

Kind of related to this topic, I haven't gotten into blacksmithing yet, but I do have weaving done.
Is this a good base for blacksmithing when it comes to materials?

It's a start! Leathers for the most part you can buy, farm from SCC, or hoard. The other main component that you'll need are braids. To train weaving, you won't end up making a lot of these but like leathers, they're farmable (just more annoying).
Other than leather straps and braids, you won't need many other things. Tough string/thread is always good to have a decent supply of because if you ever need thick/thin threads, you can just fragment the toughs and save yourself the inventory crisis.

Weaving is a mandatory for blacksmithing. Starting from rank A to rank 1 you will need hundreds of fine/finest/common leather straps even with exp10 hammer. Sure, you can ask others around or buy the strap ones, but having r1 weaving will save you time and perhaps money as well.

Glad I've gotten weaving down then, thanks!

Just so you have a good idea on the mats, I used around 2k fine leather straps, 1k finest leather straps, a few hundred braids, and countless ingots. Honestly it might be better for you to just wait until another bazzar event and buy a ton of mats.

Imo you should rank weaving/tailoring first and save EVERYTHING you make, THEN do smithing. You'll have an ample supply of various different threads, fabrics, leathers, etc that you can draw upon.

Is there an easy way to farm fine/finest (mostly fine) leather? Im total around 500~550 and Ive been running Math dungeon, but only get 1 fine leather, sometimes none. Im pretty sure its based off CP, but shadow mission wise, do harder difficulties of SCC get you more leather, or is it all CP relative?
Also, Ive decided to make one of my free support characters into my weaver so I can have both talents, but then I was thinking, because Ive never leveled him (around total 20, maybe?) his dex is around 30 or something terrible like that. Would the success rate be so awful that it would be worth taking a week from blacksmithing to do weaving on my main, who has over 180 dex (the cap) or just tough it out with my alt?

I don't think there are missions that'd give you finest leathers that you can run easily at your level.
For me, I've been getting leathers passively, and I still have more than 500 stored.
