Moving on to Warrior after Magic now?

I debating whether I should become a spellsword or not.
Here are the magic skills that I ranked, and stats that I have.

My total is in the mid-700's.

I'm currently using a mana reduction set, and if I do become a spellsword, I'll use a my ladeca light short sword and shield (and rank shield mastery), and a hermit staff in my aux slot. (I like how it looks! :D)

IMO, I don't think there is any point for me to rank Ice Spear or Fireball to R1, besides for the stats, because I only use thunder. Furthermore, fireball takes too long to charge without an upgraded wand, and Ice Spear damage isn't all that great.

My question is, should I rank close combat? The +str would certainly be helpful for my defense, and I enjoy it on my alt.

Don't think about branching into other things for now. Your stat isn't good enough to hybrid effectively.
As for skill choice, I can tell you that fireball is a much better skill. Thunder falls off pretty easily, so you really don't want th
at to be your main damager.
Instead, go for firebolt/ball and blaze oriented style, you'll see that your damage output is MUCH higher.
And throw the ladeca set away please, those are useless weapon. If you're seriously considering melee, go get a lance or a r1 hlc.

Lol. Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll stick with magic then.

Fireball: With my current stats and r1 magic weapon mastery, it'll take ~8 seconds with a speed wand, and ~80 mana. I will end up spamming pots if I go this route.. :/

When do you consider stats efficient enough to hybrid?

80 mana isn't really much, and if you're gonna do magic, you should be prepared to take some potions. Potions should never be an issue, and that's for any class really. Thunder's gonna drain your mp too, so it's not really different. Thunder has mediocre damage with not much of an efficient mp cost. And you'll still end up spamming pots while not being able to kill things as fast or efficiently.

Granted, I am a bit more than 3k level above you, but I can tell you that I'm nothing close to a mage. My int only comes from ranking bolts/healing earlier, as well as composing and musical knowledge. So if a player that doesn't consider themselves as a mage has about the same int as you, I would try to get to 700 int at least before going into other things. That way, when you rank your str (which you can get easily early on), you can set yourself up for gunner too.

Another thing is that your dex and will is on the lower side. I know mine's low too, and that's because I don't have fighter ranked. But if you wanna go into other classes at all, dex and will is a must rank.

Cap your magic tab and then move on, most of the skills in magic tab are useful and give int which you will want anyways. Fireball is very strong burst damage and with snap cast it becomes instant. Ice spear can easily be one of the strongest of the 3 int magic if you build it correctly and it is good for a blaze combo as well.

Mana isn't a problem I guess. I always carry a few stacks of 100mp pots, and I also have a pet who's inv is full of pots.
Alright, thanks. I guess I'll rank Fireball, along side blaze, and prof phoenix fire wand while I'm at it. I'll also raise int from books and other magic skills.

From everyone's advice, I'll finish the magic tab (or at least most of it) before moving on then.
It'll be a LONG time before I get the AP's to rank Ice Spear, Fireball, and Blaze though..

If you're looking for high single target dps, chaincasted firebolt is your answer.

I wanna say Ice Spear. Ice Spear adds 0 skill cp, which can benefit you for other skill training later.
You can rank fireball if you want an early power spike, but I wouldn't, because Ice Spear has the utility that fireball doesn't, and fireball adds a huge chunk of cp.

When I'm about that level, I too use thunder as my main dmg. Even now, thunder remain my fave. Ice Spear eats too many MP with the lowest dmg among three considering I'm not an elf, while fireball took too long to charge and I only use it with snapcast or scattered enemies that doesn't get covered by thunder area.
The best thing about thunder is you don't have to have 5 charge to launch it, and unless you're doing a difficult battle, usually 1-3 charge is enough.

Although I agree Ice Spear doesn't give much CP, but if you're thinking between Ice Spear and fireball, I'd say go with fireball. Ice Spear requires more AP than fireball, and very situational (multi-wave, IS+blaze combo). It's not really hard training Ice spear after getting fireball. In fact, training almost all magic is easy; the hard part is their AP. Well, you'll rank them both in the end anyway.
