Hey guys,
So I have taken a long long long break from Mabinogi and I was thinking about coming back to play casually.
I have no idea what the new fads, content, etc. is and I wanted to get your help on starting me off once again in this world!
So...
I have an account with a pretty cruddy character and two pets (White Bear and Some type of horse, don't know exactly yet...
I am almost positive that I need to rebirth or will have been given a free one by now...
But, My main question is...
If I want to enjoy the game casually and be able to handle most stuff on my own, what build should I work on first?
I believe (if my memory serves me correctly) I was working on melee on my character last time I played, but would prefer to be able to attack several enemies at once and do a good amount of damage, and be able to do very well when partied up with other people.
I know this is an open ended question because it depends on my decision, but If I was a zombie and you could tell me anything and I would do it, please tell me and give me a guide to follow....atleast to get my bearings as I start playing this game again!
Thanks guys, I really look forward to your posts!!!
And thank you for helping me!

If your playing casually then don't worry about doing anything other then having fun with it. Alchemy works it's nice since you can get damage from equipment and skill rank rather then having to rank up a bunch of skills. It's pretty good if you can use it.
There's also puppetry which is nice and strong but I don't know just how dependent it is on stats. The dmg is from STR/DEX but I'm not sure how much you would need to make it really efficient.
If you want to casually/slowely build up a character rather then grinding it depends on the skill set your using. Also what race are you? Human / Elf / Giant?

Melee and multiple enemies screams Windmill. :D
Also you should try talking to the giant leader for a free giant card if you haven't already.
Currently there's the 3 hero "talents" out which the latest one came out recently(alchemy). There are also daily quests you can do for adventure seals which can be used to buy stuff from the adventurer shop(items change daily), and 5 of those daily quests are pretty easy to do casually(ptjs), so you can do those and also have alts do them and transfer seals through the bank to combine them.
There was a new alchemy guide made recently in the guides section of the forum that you can look at. It describes skills and stuff like that.

I do play and on Alexina. Tropa is a great alchemist and posted his guide to combat alchemy
here. I just want to get a better idea what your going for when building your character. I know you said good for solo'ing and while there are classes that are better set up for multi-aggro control like say puppets, you can pull them all in then do dmg without them moving and more high dmg pushing them back.
However puppets can be stronger if you have high dex/str so increasing those is your aim or if your melee you want to increase your str. It's not uncommon for people who maybe didn't level a lot to make a new character and build based on what they want. Of course I also recommend making a human on a new account so that you can get a free elf and giant character card.
Based on the class you decide the race you pick may effect it. Try looking through the skill sets / watching videos maybe and decide how a class that your interested in and work on a character from that.

Melee is pretty straight forward and enjoyable for a casual player. If you havent play in a while, an important chance you should know is that "Load Times" for skills have been replaced with "Cooldowns", meaning it is easier to chain combos together with multiple skills. Smash, Assault Slash and Windmill are your bread and butter skills. In terms of damaging multiple enemies at once, Windmill is still really your only viable go-to.
Alternatively, if AoE skills are really important to you, I'd say go down the Magic path with spells like Thunder.
The other specialisations avaliable such as Puppeteer/Gunner/Range require a bit more effort in investing time to be effective but are also viable options. I dont know too much about Alchemist but look to Tropa's guide if you're interested.
Fighter is pretty fun too, but very limited in terms of mobbing skills, it's more for Single Target DPS.
If you do choose Warrior/Melee, I'd encourage you pick Giant as your race. More abundant Strength gain, higher damage percentages and shorter cooldowns. Not to mention higher running speeds.
