Is it mandatory to have a high ranked cooking in order to get a 5 star dish? I've been making nothing but cheese bread non stop, zooming in to see if I get all the pixels in place and everything, but I only seem to get 4 star. :gloom3:

Nope. Made 5-stars with novice cooking last night. Use a cooking ruler, it'll help, though I don't think you'll always get 5-stars even if the measurements are exact.

Someone asked this yesterday in the small questions topic, it's 100% random whether or not you get a 5 star dish.

Wahhh, I've never gotten 5-stars.
[S]But yeah, this is what wiki says on the Cooking page: "
The rate of 5 star food is set at random intervals so long as you achieve a delicious dish." So not exactly "100%" random, but it's still random in the sense that neither exact measurements nor high cooking skill determine the quality.[/S]

I see. I tend to have about a 40-50% chance of getting a 5 star (so long as I get measurements right). Additionally and a little off topic, in less than a week of making dishes for the dragon event I have made the "best" of something three times lol

There's a slight random margin of error even when your dex is high and you get everything pixel perfect. I think a higher rank closes that margin a bit, but in the end it's all chance.

I noticed that if you get the bar to not shake at the correct amount you would get a 5 star dish. That means you need to have high dex, and in order to make it not shake, click very lightly on Add until it doesn't shake.

I use a level 10 reforge and the game still hates me.
It's all RNG, if you get no message about the ratio of ingredients, it's all about luck then.

Just to confirm that stars is not directly linked to quality.
Some things that "need" a 5-star dish
actually check for quality instead of stars (like the dragon homestead daily quest from the event) so it's possible to pass them if you get the creation perfect, even though the game may roll you 4 stars instead of 5 on the item.

Just to add to that, 80+ counted for 4-star dishes and 90+ counted for 5-star dishes for the dragon homestead quests, but the lower 90s is still shown as 4 stars.
