Why would anyone prefer AIM over skype?
Just why?

Some people might have a faith that doesn't allow them to produce images or videos of themselves.
Some people might not have a webcam.
Some people might want to type instead of talk (I am that way. I hate talking on Skype or on the Phone).

No one's forcing you to use images of yourself/use a webcam/talk on mic. I rarely do any of those things on skype.

I used Skype and I dominantly used it to type. It worked well.
Also I grew up in the 90s but never used AIM, I suppose it's an American thing.

This is true.
Idk, I just don't like Skype. I use it for school and i just don't like it.
I mean continue using Skype all you want, people will like what they like.
As for me, I have an AIM. So if my friends on Mabi wanna talk with me outside of the game they can reach me there. :)

Eh, but the thing is many people don't use AIM. They prefer Skype for the fact it's easy enough to use and can chat with their friends in big groups together and meet new people that way.
But whatever floats your boat.

You can do massive group chats on AIM as well.
Idk, i guess i am just not comfortable Skyping with people I don't know IRL, and since I use it for school and work it is more of a professional tool in my eyes then something to chat with friends on.

I haven't used AIM in over 3 years and I always thought I was one of the last people to ditch it. The only reason I still used it was be because I used Pidgin, and as such didn't need a separate client for AIM.
You'll find that you won't be able to use AIM for your purposes in the Mabi community. Even if you believe that a given comunication service is superior, it's pointless if none of your friends use it. I can relate; when BBM came out for android/iOS, almost none of my friends were convinced to get it. :(
You'll just have to get used to Skype. Maybe make a separate amount for Mabi people.

Nah. If my friends want to talk to me they can make an AIM :P I'm mad stubborn like that. If they don't want to make one, they can wait for me to come on the game.

AIM is a relic of the past, but you seem pretty adamant about the no Skype thing. We've already told you you don't need to type, and Skype can do what AIM can do 10x better. I do miss the sound though, super retro.

Let's put it this way, the last time i used AIM was in high school, i refuse to make a new AIM as Aubog007 and Aubog007@yahoo and AOL.com are expired domain names and i have no way to renew them since their backup information is stored on the other's email.
GG at my high school stupidity.
Skype has it's flaws that's for sure, i was very adamantly against skype for the longest time, but i got used to it since the audio codecs are nice and the IMing system is very fluid and accessible, while MSN and AIM was a bit clunky with their XMLs.
