Howdy folks, so I was wondering about a few skills in particular that have to do with controlling or summoning other characters to fight for you. I really like the idea of being able to fight alongside an artificial teammate, or have an artificial teammates do lost of work for you in battles.
A bit about my character if it's relevant:
--
Keep in mind that my cumulative level is a low 345.
My combat power is low too, not sure exactly where but I know its not higher than 900.
My equips are nothing worth mentioning; no upgrades or anything. Just normal equips.
I do have rank 1 windmill (I dont' know the significance of that, just proud I finally got that out of the way.)
I don't know what playstyle I like. Due to the fact Mabinogi is structured to make unique skillsets pretty much unattainable to people at my level, I simply am a close combat player.

So the skills in particular I'm wondering about are: "Act 9: Invigorating Encore", "Taming Wild Animals" and "Summon Golem"
I originally liked Act 9 the best since it seemed to have the strongest "spawn" of all the skills and it was fully independent... Then I watched a few videos of the AI and it seems to have the AI of a brick with the speed of a sloth, so that wouldn't be very useful.
Then I liked Taming Wild Animals, and I tried it out for a bit and liked it (didnt invest any points into it, just playing around), but after a bit of research it seems that any monsters after a certain CP are pretty much untameable, making the skill useless for long term use.
Then I finally liked Summon Golem; it seems to be the ideal of all three skills-- BUT, it isn't independent and needs you to control it... Not great for me since I wanna fight alongside my partner
>inb4 why not get a pet
> I have several, they're just not strong and I don't like the idea of a timer... I never use em up but I'm paranoid.
So anyways; are there any skills that reliably can summon a partner to fight alongside or am I going to have to abandon my dreams of becoming a [S]pokemon[/S] monster master?

From the
wiki:
While wielding both a regular cylinder and guard cylinder, the control switch will feature a AI system for the Golem.
- When given the Attack command, the Golem will attack its master's target and prepare and use skills as it sees fit.
- AI Mode can be toggled on and off.
- The Golem's skills can also be remotely activated, provided the user is already targeting an enemy.
I am unsure if you can do the same "shift+click" to select mobs like you would with a pet, but it says that at least you can trigger commands remotely. That would probably be the closest thing to a "decent" partner that you'll find, as it appears that the (snow) golem will max out with a max damage of 777 and have r1 smash, r6 windmill, and ~r8 passive defenses.
My understanding is that you can obtain the skill (read book listed on the linked wiki page), buy a cylinder and guard cylinder, summon a golem (admitedly a weak one unless you rank the skill and the earth masteries described), and switch to melee. You would probably want to rank it to at least rC for the increased summon time and conversion to forest golem. You could probably have a couple of low rank alchemy skills (since you'll have a guard/cylinder equipped) to mix in for aggro control along with your melee.

Ah, marionettes, the best friend one could have. I could go in depth in more areas, but for now you only asked Act 9. However, not only is the AI extremely crappy, it's also weak as hell because most of the marionette's power comes from you which is supplied via Control Marionette. Aside from the AI, the skill itself is pretty impractical to use; it takes WAY TOO LONG to build up the meter and the boosts it gets is WAY TOO SMALL. Plus, you're going to keep switching out marionettes in order for it to survive when its getting pulverized as well as to cure it from the Control Marionette Cooldown glitch, and that cancels the skill. So, the skill is a piece of crap.
Taming Wild Animals is not a good idea. The monsters you tame aren't good fighting companions; they'll get in the way by knocking everything down and making them invulnerable to attack.
Summon Golem, I have no experience in alchemy so I can't help there.

Taming Wild Animals does have its functions, but its definitely not something you'd use for combat. The value comes in your Adventurer Talent points, and in the Life Exploration Taming Cane.

I thought Fishing does a better job?
