As much as I liked the game itself, being one of the few/only anime MMOs wiith proper bishounen males and anime facial anatomy that isn't chibi...
I hated that Aeriagames decided to keep the stupid gacha/lottery system for the cash shop costumes and eidolons, with ridiculously low chances of getting the costume/eidolon. I would see people on the forum giving their results, showing how spending $900 could be a complete waste. I also hate that everything binds on equip. The few costumes(only one per gender last time I checked) that are available for direct purchase are really overpriced for me, too.
There's just no anime MMOs that can compare to Mabinogi's depth and generosity towards free players (especially those who love clothes). :(

I gave the game a try and even leveled to 45.
If you are not one to really care about customizing and dressing up or anything of that nature the game is fine. It has a decent storyline and it doesn't really "drag" along. Grinding does become a slight problem after lvl 40 but you really don't notice it. NPC wise, you have some very nice character portraits and some engaging personalities. Classes and skills are generic MMO fare with just different names but work as intended for the most part. Graphically the game is a def improvement on what you see on mabinogi (lol) or even some of the recent anime influenced MMOs. Granted content is still limited but it is still a very recent game.
BUT if you want anything more than your generic costume/etc you will either have to do dungeons again and again or take out the good old wallet and spend some cold hard cash. Aeriagames doesn't disappoint in this regard. The main items are beautiful but very rare, meaning you must either have the luck of the gods or a wallet that would put Bill Gates to shame.
Simply put. As a game its not bad...but there are others out there that have the same sort of gameplay but more freedom. Granted the graphics won't be as nice but...that's up to you.

1-50 is "tutorial" where you level quickly simply by following the quests.
50+ it turns into another grindfest mmo somewhat.
The biggest problem was the lack of content... leveling up to 60 on level 50 only dungeons is such a nightmare. I mean, I like the game and all, but right now it just lacks the content to make me wanna keep playing it. Also do expect p2win since you really only become truly OP through the enchant/fortification scrolls sold on the cash shop.
Also, the lack of costumes bothers me in an anime-based MMO. Like I said, biggest problem right now is the lack of content.

perfectly already played a little bit and if the opening is anything to go by with like 240 NPC's right at the start and no lagg or stutter fairly sure non NPC heavy areas will be fine

Everytime you finish quests for an area, you get your choice of 3 costumes. I'm done with most of them and have ~9 outfits, though I got a couple from mob drops and NPC shops as well. It's not as diverse as Mabi, but it's still in beta. Better still, the clothing is completely independent of gear stats so you don't have to sacrifice fashion for function.
The combat system is standard fare at first glance, though it should be noted that the game does not use a resource system. All classes are cooldown limited only. In addition, cooldown reduction is a stat just like attack or defense, opening up some rather interesting builds.
Also, the fortification system has no chance of blowing up items or losing fortification ranks. Even if it fails, you get points towards the next rank. This means that you can reach max rank guaranteed, it's just a matter of time. You get the needed fortification scrolls from mob drops or quest rewards and higher quality scrolls from daily quests.
You can also use Loyalty Points to purchase almost anything you use cash shop points for; and these are obtained via accomplishments or daily accomplishments in-game. You can purchase any of the cash outfits, fortification scrolls, eidolon stuff and w/e else.
