So I've been playing vindictus for awhile now, and haven't got that far.
Was wondering which char to play, I try out most em, but can't decide. My top three choices are lann, kai and hurk. What are the pros and cons of each? Will it be difficult mastering the char? How much funding is require? And how do I make gold? Is there something I should be doing specific for gold or leveling?
P.S I liked lann cuz I watched this guy on YouTube name raidhunter.

Well, it all depends on your own likes and dislikes of each character, to be honest. But to put it into my opinion, which isn't very credible considering I've only played Hurk out of those three characters, I can list the pros and cons of each. Due to the fact that I'm very close with someone who plays all three characters, I understand each of their gameplays enough to try to stay neutral. I'm sorry if I seem to favor one character over the other. :c
Pros of Sword Lann:
Able to survive very well due to his easy dodge.
Moderate damage, even in end game gear. (Though damage is not very important to me, it may be different to you.)
Sword skills are pretty easy to pick up.
Easy to get his dodge down. Doesn't take much timing and focus.
Cons of Sword Lann:
Very slow attacks without high speed. (Compared to most classes.)
Again, moderate damage. (Pro or con depending on how you look at it.)
So basically, if you want a character that can survive easily and you don't worry about damage, then Sword Lann would be the best. c:
Pros of Spear Lann:
High damage, even from the beginning.
Spear skills are easy to pick up.
Very fast gameplay.
Cons of Spear Lann:
Sacrifice the ability to survive for high damage.
Dodge takes a lot of practice and takes timing to survive. (Gliding Fury takes practice to get down and is basically a Spear Lann's dodge.)
So if you're wanting a character that out damages most of the other classes, but can't always survive as well, Spear Lann would be your choice. c: (Raidhunter is a Spear Lann, just FYI)
Pros of Bow Kai:
Constant damage without being in the middle of harms way.
Medium to high damage.
Is able to pin mobs/bosses in certain circumstances.
Long-ranged.
Can get break-offs semi-easily.
Easy to pick up skills after some practice.
Cons of Bow Kai:
Dodge can be sloppy.
Has a lower chance to survive when mobs/bosses are close.
Controls take some time getting used to, but when you get them down, it's fairly easy. (So pro and con. ~)
Bow Kai is for a player that wants to deal moderate to high damage and stay out of harms way, basically. c:
Pros of Cross Gun Kai:
Fast gameplay.
Moderate normal damage but high burst damage.
Easy dodge.
Can get break-offs very easily after some practice.
Cons of Cross Gun Kai:
When loading up certain skills, there is a glitch where he kicks instead if too close to mobs/bosses.
Can be difficult to load up skills when mobs/bosses are aggroed on you. (So normal attacks only, meaning moderate damage.)
Can be difficult to solo things if in lower level gear.
Cross Gun Kai is basically used for moderate ranged attacks with moderate damage unless using high burst damage skills, can also survive pretty well.
Pros of Greatsword Hurk:
Constant (Very High) damage.
Basic dodge is fairly easy to pick up.
Ability to survive is high when you get his dodge down.
Able to pin bosses, which is desirable in some parties.
Instead of getting out of the battle, has a skill that heals when used properly.
Cons of Greatsword Hurk:
Skills take up more Stamina than all other classes.
Certain skills take a lot of practice and can be frustrating at first.
Uses Health when Stamina is gone and can easily get down to 1 Health if not paying attention to his Stamina.
Dies easily if you don't have his dodge and survivability skills down.
Hurk is one that takes a lot of time and effort to control, but once you get him down, he deals high damage and can survive pretty well. c: (Very frustrating and time consuming, but later on, after some practice, he is a very desirable class in some parties.)
Remember, this is just in my opinion, and others may come along and say differently. But the Lann and Kai pros and cons come from a person that has been playing them since they've come out. I hope this helps your choice making! c:
Mastering any character takes time, effort, and practice. But later on in levels, you and your character will seem like one and you'll be able to play with no issues with any character that you choose. Though don't expect to perfect any character. After all, we are just human and constantly make mistakes.
If you mean funding as in NX, it doesn't take any. You can play throughout the game completely using gold as your currency and be perfectly fine. Though if you mean funding as in gold.. it takes quite a bit in the higher levels. Sure, you can run for the materials to craft, but when you're going for that level 80 gear and weapons and whatnot (if you decide to), it'll be quite some time to just get those items from drops. Depending on the server that you play on, prices can range from a couple hundred million gold to a few million. I will say that East server has the highest prices due to the community, gold bots, and gold buyers. West server is second in prices, and Australia is third due to the small community there.
Making gold is another matter all on it's own. Controlling the Marketplace is easy enough. ~ At lower levels, you won't gain much gold, but once you start hitting the 60s, you can raid for a chance at rare items. Though you've got to have some decent gear or the raids will be very difficult to run. I wish you all the luck on starting out on your Vindictus life, and if you're in the East server, feel free to add me. :3
IGNs are Pockyt, DezzzyRawhr, Rochirion, and LlydiaWolfe. ~ I'll be more than happy to help you on your journey through the world that is Vindictus! c:

Thanks and sorry for you having to write all that. I don't think I want to play anymore x ~x and I meant how do I make money aside from hoping to get a rare drop from boss?
So I was playing and some guild leader invited me to their guild, I didn't mind so I joined. And some guy was buying an thunderclap, and my lil bro had a thunderclap but he doesn't play anymore. I told the guy I had one and he said "money no object, dude just name a price" so I said 300m xD cuz I secretly didn't want to sell it, but if he bought it for that price I would sell it to him o: The guy try to naggle 75m and 80m. I just rejected his offer, and joined a elchulus 24man raid. Him and his friend started ganging up on me to sell him the bow, I just ignored it and later they said that they were just playing and told me his friend was the guild master of the guild I just join. So my guild leader pmed me tell me to stop picking on him and trying to rip him off. I know it's a rip off but I'm not forcing him to buy the bow or anything. He kept telling me that the buyer was his friend and demanding I sell him the bow cuz he was his friend. I told him "That doesn't matter to me, he's not my friend but yours." And said he was getting complaints, I just told him "I'll leave the guild.". The guild leader said "Perfect, stupid hoe." and kicked me. o -o"

That's terrible! D: Though quitting due to a stupid person isn't worth it. :c Just change channels, make new friends, and move on, is what I say. :D
People will be stupid. ~ Can't change that. :c 75-80mil is.. cheap for a Thunderclap on East. xD And he honestly deserved it if he said money was no object!

So how do I make gold without have to spam raids for rare drop?
-
PockytArtyst wrote on 2014-02-12 06:52
Well.. you can always start an expertise. Weaponsmithing or Armorsmithing would be easiest, Goldsmithing brings in a lot of gold but is very difficult starting around the 300 proficiency mark. And Tailoring is pretty much useless until they come out with another Int based character. :c
You can also get your gathering expertise up to at least 90 and run level 70-80 Twilight Desert for the luminaries. Get two of each Lambent Powder, Spirit Water, Magic Stone, and Element Shard along with ten Element Stone Catalysts and you've got an Element Stone that you can sell for a decent amount of gold. ~ Though sadly, that only works once you hit 70 and up. ~
Your best bet is to run for all your gear sets up to level 60 and sell them when you no longer need them. Also, at level 69, you get a Passion Enchant from a quest. I've been told that it sells for quite a bit in all servers due to the demand of more defense.
Could also enchant farm too.. but that requires you to be at least level 60 with decent enough gear so you can survive well enough in Hero modes. c:
But other than that, I'm not sure what other ways of making gold are out there. xD What I've said above is just what I do to make gold on new characters and even my oldest characters when needing some things. :3

Pocky pretty much covered everything about what I was going to say about Lann and Hurk. However, I have a few more things to add about them.
Lann:
-Both swords and spears have A LOT crap smashes and skills. Windmill, Furious Seven, Gust Sting, Rising Crescent, Blade Tornado, Radical Fever, Silent Hawk, Sudden Blast, they're all terribad and impractical to use.
-Spears are extremely limited in options, with only two useful attacks at their disposal, not counting the shared ones. You'd get bored with all that spinning.
-I can't see how Gliding Fury is considered a dodge. It has pretty bad physics collision, takes way too long to start up, and doesn't even go through enemies.
Hurk:
-Can reduce 80% damage received with his dodge skills.
-Can instantly force a boss to flinch and then follow up with stuns.
-Can one shot most lower leveled bosses, or at least shave off a huge chunk of their health. I've killed [S]2[/S] 5 [S]birds[/S] soldier spiders with one [S]stone[/S] slash.
-Can keep attacking with no stamina by trading off with health.
-Cons are pretty much null if you know what the hell you're doing with Hurk, and he's really easy to pick up.

Gliding Fury is mainly used to get away from a boss. Then again, I've never really focused on Lann and can't say much, but from what I know, it's used often. c:
Hurk's Terminus skill can sometimes miss due to the placement of the character and the boss. It all depends on if you know how to use your character.
Though I guess you can say that for any character. ~ Like Vella's Cyclone or Kai's Massive Impact. It all depends on the placement, really. To some people, certain characters are easier to pick up than others. :3 Personally, I have issues getting Hurk's dodge down. No, that doesn't mean everyone would or should, but there is that possibility that there are others out there that just can't get his skills and dodge down enough to where they can use him to his best ability. ~

I might be one of those people that can't get hurks dodge down xD Hurk just reminds me of dante from dmc > ~<

PockytArtyst wrote on 2014-02-12 07:24
Getting his dodge down is troublesome for me. xD Can't seem to get that deflection working properly. D: Then again I've kinda abandoned him for my Fiona... I'm biased towards female characters.

RegisAreus wrote on 2014-02-12 07:39
Same. It just bothers me even using a female char. Unless that char has lots of flashy moves.
-
PockytArtyst wrote on 2014-02-12 07:53
I'm not bothered by using male characters, I just tend to enjoy playing female characters more. xD Though eventually I will get each character leveled up and geared! (I'm ambitious, I know.. ;w; )
