Cannot see certain skill effects

After I entered the White Dragon raid for the first time, I was asked to change my video settings and I did. When I started using my music, I noticed I was unable to see the effects. I've searched multiple places and asked people how to fix this, but I couldn't get an answer. Is there something I'm overlooking or a default settings button somewhere?
To me this is a big deal because it takes the fun out of all my bard skills.

uncheck the mini effects box somewhere in your options thingy
