A quote from my textbook:
Hegemonic masculinity is irrevocably tied to heterosexuality (Connell, 2002: Kimmel, 2001), which acts as a veritable precursor for defining masculinity in Western societies. Kimmel argues that homophobia is central to our definition of masculinity and is much more than the irrational fear of gay men. It is also the fear that "men will unmask other men," emasculate them, and reveal to the world that they do not measure up to the ideal construction of masculinity.
This fear of being unmasked leads to shame and silence. In turn, men become complicit in the subordination of women and of other men. This occurs for example when men fail to intervene when other men make sexist or racist jokes, when they turn a blind eye when a woman is harassed on the street by other men, and when they join in the laughter that follows gay-bashing jokes. In these ways, men's fear of being revealed as frauds ("not man enough") results in the continued perpetuation of rendered behavior and stereotypes.
So basically, people who hates gay, or hates men doing unmanly things because they are afraid not hating them would make them less manly.

They're simply afraid that they'll be put in the position that they put women in. But when it comes down to it, they're just assholes.
And well, the only way for something to be special, is for only a few to have it. (Only myself, and people like me, have _____ right, thus it is special.)
Which makes me chuckle from the majority I see complain about homosexuality. You're a white, heterosexual, upper-middle class male complaining about people having the same rights as you?
Cry me a fucking river.

What I am getting out of this is that A: I don't care about being manly cause I watch MLP, B: Some people hate bronies because they are afraid not hating them would make them less of a man. Not saying all brony haters are, some people are just annoyed how popular the meme was.

Well, being discriminated against for being a brony isn't really much of an issue outside of the Internet, no one will really care.
I hate when people use the term, 'coming out', for telling someone they are an atheist, or they're a brony, or a furry, or whatever. (Not accusing you of anything, but things of that nature are much less serious then sexual orientation and gender identity.)
And well, for anyone who still believes in gender roles or buys into gender stereotypes, this is the 21st century. Please come join us.

I dunno, being a furry is a pretty serious thing. I'd say they are thought of as even worse than homosexuals by most people.

Mainly ties into the whole "all gay men are feminine" bullshit, too. And the fact that femininity of any kind is a synonym with 'weak'/'lesser than' in their eyes.
Though, there are plenty of women that are homophobic for the exact same reason. Which is even more ridiculous.

I don't think it's bullshit, people try to maintain their status in society, and that depends on conforming to society's value, thus it's reasonable to want to be masculine as male.

True, but when society's values are utter bullshit that doesn't mean much.

Well if the value is shit overtime it will be replaced, but there is always a lag between the value we need and value we get, quite like federal laws. For me, if there is something I don't like but it's the societal norm, I just ask myself, can I be bothered to follow it, and if I like doing whatever I want more than being acceptable member of society, I will just ignore social convention.
