Hey everyone,
I'm currently working with a Wakizashi and a Heater Shield.. What can I buy to improve this sword-shield combination? What better swords or shields are there on the market? I'm considering getting a focused white beam sword for 600k, but I'm unsure how faster swords work with shields.
Also, how much would a Wakizashi be worth to sell?
Appreciate all answers, thanks!,

In Mabi, you'll rarely see experienced players using a single sword and shield.
- Dual-wielding gets you more hits per combo, which means more total damage to the enemy before they can react (since as long as you're attacking them properly they're stunlocked).
- Alternatively, using a 2-handed weapon (lance, big sword or something) gets you higher damage multipliers with skills like smash.
If you're an elf though, using a scythe might work, since they're one of the few 2-handed weapons elves can use (elves can't duel-wield any swords as far as I know).
Beam swords have fantastic damage and will give you one more attack when single-wielding, but are expensive to repair. But just going with two normal swords will improve your overall damage output over a single Wakizashi.
As far as shields go, heater shields are considered small shields. A medium-type shield like the standard NPC Kite Shield would actually get you better defense improvements from the Shield Mastery skill. If you want something special-looking anyways, check the list.

The main difference you'll notice with a "faster" sword is reduced stun time, which goes for normal attacks as well as melee skills. For example, mobs knocked down from the windmill of a "fast" sword will get up faster than from a "slow" sword.
I use a
focused rainbow beam sword with my elf for melee, though it can't be upgraded (normal or special, or enchanted.) Starting out though it has good crit (50%) and an excellent 90-180 min/max, despite its low balance (which can be remedied with dex and sword/combat masteries.) It would obviously be more expensive than the focused white beam you mentioned, but among my four characters I can earn about 42 adventurer seals a day (avoiding the more tedious quests) so that I could earn a new sword every week without much trouble (and even repairing at 95% you shouldn't wear down the durability within a week.) You can dual wield these if you'd like.
I echo the suggestion of a kite shield if you want to continue using a shield+sword.
Based only on the stats of your sword, and maybe its fashion appeal, I wouldn't buy it for more than 200k myself. And that price being only for fashion (for which I'd rather have a rapier)

A
Francisca may as well be the best one handed weapon that Humans/Elves can use with a shield, because
Axes get better special upgrades than one handed swords/blunts.

Thanks for the replies; I usually keep a two-handed sword (in particular the Dragon Fang) as a backup. Will look into getting two beams, and keep moving from there. Thanks again!

Get a krutta broadsword from the gacha. It's better than the sword of Elsinore and it doesn't need that dumb glove. If you don't have the money, just stick with a mace or something from NPC. 1h melee is not worth investing in for mabi.

If you haven't noticed, that sword isn't 1h. It uses 1h blunt animation, but it's still 2h sword.
But like this person said, 1h isn't worth investing. If you're gonna use any weapon with a shield/guard cylinder, it'd have to be a cylinder or wand.

I find rebis+fran fun to use, but in practicality it's for fun only. Looking for top tier dmg usually throws out hybriding in the same weapon slot, sometimes the same weapon. For example, Merlin knuckles. Great fun to use fighter+int magic, but damage wise it won't be top tier. It's all up to your taste and goals.

If you're a giant, you could use a lance.

I'm a human. Actually thought about using a lance for a while, but figured I should focus on getting my regular combat down before moving on to spending AP on other things..

Are you sure?
Iirc the BDK sword is 1h looking animation but actually 2h. I THINK the krutta is a "blunt" though. There's only a few on ruairi at the moment so I can't really confirm.

Yes, I'm positive. It is a 2 handed weapon, despite some senseless rumors.
Both swords share the same principle in a way that they appear 1 handed, but is actually considered 2 handed.

Oh, that is a good idea. XD My friend told me to save lance for later too.

Thank you for all of the replies; I've purchased two beam swords and I'm using a dragon fang (2h) for my combat now.
Thanks!,
