I named my horse the original Tornado back in my account when I was a child, I regret this every day I log on to this point.
I chose 765 because 76.5 is where I start getting bored going up the exp bar.

Cynndy = the "Cyn" from my username + "ndy" to make it sound like a nickname.
Most people just assume it's some hipster version of Cindy, though. Which is irksome.

I got Allouetta from the French alouette (lark or skylark). I added an extra l to make my name more symmetrical and changed the final e to an a for symmentry and to make it more feminine. I also named one of my pets Allouette, but I avoided the one l version because it just felt way too unbalanced.

Taizo wrote on 2014-02-21 04:05
Named my character Taizo after Taizo Hori; The Protagonist of my Favorite game Dig-Dug
But the Character I'm mainly using now I didnt think I'd ever really use that much so I just made him look like Gordon Freeman and named him "Freemon" just as a joke

Hearing all these fancy names, and I literally just said something out loud and decided to run with it

I named my main Vetur because it means Winter in Icelandic. Well, the original name was meant to be Veturliði(winter seafarer), because I have a general like for wintery and watery scenery. I shortened it because Mabinogi wouldn't accept foreign letters in names. It would also make it hard for others to add/note me.
Etti(giant) is just a name I thought sounded cute.
I named Aibon after the idol Ai Kago, who most fans call Aibon.
My newest giant was named Gyroid, after the gyroids in Animal Crossing.
Pikachu is an obvious one. xD
...I don't think I need to explain my elf's name.

I was taking a health test, and in order to help me study, I named my character after the first word on my study list.

My name was originally "sonicbird" (yes, no capital S) which I thought of when I was like...10? I took that name because I was a huge fan of Sonic the Hedgehog (still kinda am) and I liked watching the birds, so I combined those two into one.
My new name came into life in the middle of my Grand Chase "career", I won a Name Change Card and felt it was time for something new and that didn't scream "FANBOOOOOY" everywhere I went, so I came up with "Littlesnow". This name was a combination of 2 facts: I used to be a VERY small person at the time, and I absolutely love snow (but not the cold that usually comes with it).
Now my character's name is Littlesnowie, because here in NA, Littlesnow was taken.
A lot of other names I decide on, apart from my main character name, is usually influenced by any actual objects and is merely just something that I -think- sounds like a name. Very rarely do I use references to other names.
Tamayo
Seiyo
Shizuha
Reiah
Sarina
Siria
Keria
Starelia
Prismia
Peltina
Reiku
Yamu
Sanaki
Rinoki
Yarasanaika
If those names actually bear a reference to anything, I usually don't think about them while making/picking them.
Couldn't care less if the names aren't even used yet!
Pet names in Mabinogi are often influenced by friends or objects, though.

Literally went through 30 different names, even though I only wanted 1, which was Divine, and that was taken. So now I am bound to these stupid jokes that I should stay "Silent", although I'm not a very quiet person.
Even though I have grown very attached to the name, I no longer use it in any of the games I play now-a-days.

Aushria Iluminiaries K'trelin is a scrapped character from my in-progress novel series.
I loved the name and her design so much that I chose to recreate her in Mabinogi to replace my old main.

My main's name was Allenwalker, I made him when mabi first opened. I named it after a anime character from a show called D.Grayman, and it was because Naruto and Ichigo were already taken.
*clears throat and points to avatar*
I would be much more upset with you for this.. if not for the fact that you just can't properly cosplay Allen in this game. ;w; Outfits may kinda be there, but the sword, [s]the lack of an arm[/s], and the claw are just not plausible. :c ..and needless to say there is no arm cannon. xD

I kinda hear ya on this. The "Aku" present in all my IGNs across many characters basically means "evil," yet I'm one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. xD
