  they did belong to me and it was a jar it was only about $23.00 originally meant for coin wash when i lived in an apartment now that i live in a town house with a washer i dont need to push coins into i didnt need to save the any longer
  
  also since theres no sidewalk on way to nearest bank and road is extremely busy i didnt feel like risking getting hit by a car to deposit them

  I too keep a coin-box in the house, which is regularly topped off with pocket change so that I don't find loose coins in my bed in the morning.
  
  My coin-box is so that if I get in a situation where I just want to go have some fun and don't have the cash in my bank account, I can use the spare change collected to get a burger and a cold drink and hang out with some friends. It is also useful in an emergency- a dollar can put a decent dinner on the table for instance if I have hit hard times.
  
  At the same time, any coins that end up in there that are particularly old could actually be worth more to a collector than they are as money. Susan B Anthonys for instance, in circulation they are worth a dollar- but people are buying and hoarding them for collector value as they become increasingly rare. If I ever find one again I will be sure to keep it safe, in a vacuum-packed sleeve in a lockbox or safe deposit box so that it is protected from corrosion and theft.
  
  Froglord seems to be going a little bit too far with his reaction to this, but it does sound like spending it on whatever probably wasn't the best thing to do with such a jar.

  they was mine cuz back when i had to pay for coin wash i had with drew about $35.00 in coins and stuck it in a jar
  
  i just found the jar again in a box of stuff i packed before moving and had just un packed
