Even pre-dates graphical MMOs.
Saw these tags on MUDs too.

At least it works because ingame advertisement is restricted in the number of characters allowed.

Little more wikipedia digging:
Mabinogi is actually older than WoW. Well, unless you count age by something other than the original release dates.
Really? Truth be told I ran on the assumption of World of Warcraft being older which was a bad mistake on my part. Stupid advertising and being aware of WoW well before even knowing Mabinogi existed. Such a waste.

In a sense
NA WoW players have been around longer than NA Mabinogi players.

WTB/WTS is poop.
B> S> R> LF> is much better and more appealing as well as more sensible

NMO never existed on maplestory, due to the fact that there is no noting system. Also WM either, just message me, Whisper me is censored in maplestory (because their filter is incredibly archaic, they filter combinations of letters, not words, also they don't count spaces as a new letter. Whisper me). The acronym of choice is/was L/N/O. Leave Name Offer.

Pretty sure they were used before Maplestory because I remember before it even came out, people used it in Priston Tale(the game I played before). For all we know, it could be from some of those ancient pre-2000 MMOs, or even from non-MMO sources...
Well it is worth researching, I would like to know as well. XD
As for NMO, I have only ever seen it used in Mabinogi since it stands for "Note me offer". It could be from any game with a "note" system.

I always thought "NMO" was, Note, Mail, offer.
So it's note, me, offer?
Ok, LOL

I think so, at least that's what I always see people sometimes spelling it out as. XD
Well, it could be either, not sure.
I also see "NMP" for people buying something, which I assume is "note me price", but then again that could also be "Note, mail, price"... xD;

I find "wanting to buy/sell" terms extremely dumb. Ofc when im selling something i want to sell it, i don't need to mention it on my party ad. Another thing i see mostly on vindi EU is the kk term to refer as million, with k referring to thousand kk .... thousand thousand?
