I'm wondering if there are any games like Mabinogi, both console and PC, online or offline, that I may not know about.
Mainly, I mean games that have both combat and life-skill/commerce type stuff, with either of them being optional to have fun in the game.
Also, for life-skill, please don't include MMORPGs with a generic forging/crafting system, since almost all of them have it.
So far this is what I can think of as examples:
- Mabinogi
- Rune Factory series
- Uncharted Waters Online
- Minecraft
- Fantasy Life(but it's JP only)

Well games like mabi would be games that fall under the sandbox/action hybrid mmo. Currently theres not many games out their that focus on social aspects like mabi once did and/or tried to. Mainly korean mmos focus more on the social aspect due to internet cafes being pretty pop. [S]could be wrong but eh[/S]
Not really going to find any experiences like mabi. Hopefully Peria chronicles does well and the combat is improved from its current alpha state which it most likely will be. Also hopefully it focuses more on the life aspect instead of powering up your characters.
Now onto my reccomendations which is hard to reccomend anything like mabi because there isn't but I can reccomend you sandboxes where combat is in the game but it is also optional. That is really far and few because the majority of mmo gamers see f2p as a stamp for a lower qaulity game and most sub based games are quest grinders.
I could reccomend Mortal online even though I wouldn't suggest paying for it in its current state, you can litterally breed horses and other animals and just sell them and become extremely wealthy and popular and guilds will pay for you to just supply there people and feed there pets.
Hmm, what else is there. If you have the money, I would get fantasy life but it will detract from the fun if you can't read japanese.
[S]Don't bother with elder scrolls online its just your average run from here to here.[/S]
I wanna reccomend a demon soul's game to you for some reason but that has no crafting to speak of. Its just an action game that will blow you away >_>
I'm sure games like Rust or Don't starve you may find fun. There is also Haven&Hearth which is like a extremely time draining game that seems reminiscent of UO

Oh, I do remember seeing a trailer of Peria, and it looks totally my type(anime graphics that aren't chibi, cute clothes).
I also hope it will be not just about powering up characters through battle. xD
I haven't really heard of the others you mentioned except Don't Starve, though, but I can try to look them up.

I'm waiting for there to be more info on Peria, and then hope it comes to north america if it looks good.
Right now all I can say is the graphics look like what I would like mabinogi to get upgraded to.

If they ever made a Mabinogi sequel, it should look like the graphics shown in the Peria trailer. :(
I don't like how they've been trying to turn it into Vindicktus 2 with the realistic/dark graphics and call it "Mabinogi 2".
The bright colors, cute things, and anime style is part of what makes Mabinogi... Mabinogi.

I don't completely understand what you mean by "generic forging/ crafting system", but Runescape should be worth a try regardless. I wouldn't consider it to have a generic crafting system at all.
Main problem of the game boils down to grinding and farming until you turn old and grey.

Ah, I had forgotten about that. XD I haven't played it in forever though. I wasn't too fond of the graphics/animation, but I did love the skill system.

I think Silk Road received an overhaul/will be receiving one. One of the character classes focuses on crafting and trading between towns, which means it's usually good to hire other players to protect you and your goods as you travel (kinda like commercing in Mabi). That's if I remember all that correctly.

Oh, really? I haven't played that since it first came out(when you could be almost-naked :P). xD Maybe I'll try it again someday.
