I do agree with the soda bit but like what more do these people want? All poor people to just die of starvation or something. Most people on food stamps work but aren't being paid a livable wage. Jesus Christ.

See, that I don't know about. If they can't buy soda then they shouldn't be able to buy any drinks at all, because soda is the cheapest thing to drink(at least here). A 2 liter of soda is between 79 cents and 99 cents depending on sales and whatnot, whereas 1 gallon of water is around $1.65 here.

So buying soda is cheaper than buying water and MUCH cheaper than juice($2+ a bottle!) and milk($3+ a jug), so banning them from getting the cheapest drink item available seems counter productive unless you are going to ban them from buying ALL drink items and have them drink only tap water.

If they really care about what poor people do with welfare, then they'd regulate it, not cut the funding, all this is excuse to justify the food stamp budget cut.
