New Google Drive pricing:
1.99/month for 100 GB
9.99/month for 1000 GB
Meanwhile,
Dropbox = 9.99/m for 100 GB
Microsoft = 50$/m for 100 GB
They don't even offer 1TB.

[S]Feels like Gmail all over again.[/S] Except you have to pay for the storage.
So really, they're all raping the consumers. o/

M$'s prices certainly feel like rape, but a coffee per month for 100GB of storage for my crap that I need synced is not bad at all.

Not really, they're making fair business with them. I'm surprised to see that post from you.

If Google is a more viable option, I'll be glad to move over. I've been considering cloud storage ever since I had 2-3 External HDDs die on me.
I'm currently using Dropbox to backup my project data, just in case my computers screw with me again. It's free for me at the moment (I have 9GB to work with). I just don't like the prices for Dropbox, which is why I'm always on the free one.

The cost is certainly good if you can justify it with a practical need. I just have no need for 100GB, personally. I'd only back up online stuff I can't replace. I don't wanna fill it up with 100GB worth of junk and then be compelled to pay for it for ever, for no good reason.

Was a joke, yo.

Google Drive is pretty cool as it has built in support on Android and is easily accessible via browser, especially if you already use Google services like Gmail. Plus they give you 15GB for free.

have over 30 GB free for being an "early adopter" and other random bonuses. at 36 GB if I pay nothing.
Going to use the extra 100 for being able to sync all my projects, already have good backups at home but no off-site.

I wish Google would come rape all the ISPs in the US with Google Fiber.
I'd still rather just buy another HDD, but 1TB for 10 bucks a month is pretty sweet.

People take for granted the infrastructure required to deliver Internet connectivity and the costs involved. :( A single core router costs upwards of $1 million. And the core network devices of an ISP are fairly cheap compared to the links and the lower-tier parts of their network (connecting customers to their core, roughly speaking).
Google would screw itself if it tried to build it out aggressively. xd

Well I should've thought of that.
