The thing is, people assume "New Engine" means what you see, no. There is no issue with Graphics (at least in most servers, NA supposedly made it worse but I've seen no evidence backing the claims). The Pleione Engine is not the engine that needs updating, it's the server itself. It's how packets are interpreted, and how you are constantly receiving pointless packets like G1 information when you enter Dunbarton 4 years after completing G1. Pleione IS capable of having complex hair physics, awesome clothing animations, among other things. In fact, we've been able to have FINGERS on our hands since G1, Cichol had Fingers, the Glove of Extravaganza had fingers. Yet no gloves since have ever had Fingers (for humans, Giants got fingers in their graphical update of G12) until G13, when they released Laertes and Hamlet Gloves. THEN, every glove since then went back to not having fingers, at most having a separate thumb and all the other fingers merged into one blob with a texture with lines. The issue is, they're trying to allocate resources to other things, which isn't really a problem. I'm not saying they're allocating all the money towards content or story or art or anything, but they can't exactly spread out the money however they want. Keep in mind DevCAT has Nexon to answer to. There needs to be a certain quota met to keep the game viable enough to keep it up, and I would be lying if I said I knew how much or if they're making over/under that but they still need to pay off all of their team, pay off nexon, pay off all the middle men, this is a business.
Now the thing is, I and others would like to:
- Wear Glasses/Hats/Wigs/Earrings/Crap together.
- Have animated hair.
- Updated hair/clothing models.
-among other things, but they need to allocate money towards actually keeping the playerbase with content (I'm not leaking anything, but they are working on something that might be big right now).
Also keep in mind, they WERE working on a game very similar to Mabinogi, Mabinogi 2. Those of you who say "its jst anoter vindictus", no. Have you actually seen the combat system? It's very much like Mabinogi, timing, knockdown, and stun based; with smash ice breakers and simple ways of avoiding them. It has large dungeon areas with an interactable environment (this is as far as the Vindictus similarities go) and a focus on exporation and feeling of accomplishment, which is EXACTLY what the Mabinogi community has been freaking asking for. It has a few combat styles you can pick from, a few skillsets you can pick from, and a few body types you can pick from with a wide variety of customization; not at all character locked like Vindictus's shit. It is very much like Mabinogi 1, the only thing from Mabinogi 1 they have not yet discussed is how the Life Skills are supposed to work or which they are planning on carrying over. Not to mention the story is meant to be more like Celtic Myth than Mabinogi or Vindictus has been doing, which is again EXACTLY what everyone has been asking for. So what happens? People trash it, it is exactly what they want but its a new game, and that is obviously evil. That is exactly what everyone wanted but since they cannot save the clutter of data mess Mabinogi 1 is, they thought since they cannot physically make a new game with this information, why not make something everyone wanted? And yet the community still complained, and what kind of games do well? Well, all the games nothing like Mabinogi. So they deemed it, and I quote (translation, not korean obviously) "Mabinogi 2: Arena has been cancelled indefinitely because it has been determined it is not ready for the current market." Obviously people don't want a new Mabinogi, and they just spent who knows how much money on trying to get what the Mabinogi community asked for but rejected. You really think they have anything left to add to Mabinogi with what little they have left?
Well enjoy, Mabinogi community, you got what you wanted, no new Mabinogi, no new golden years of Camelot. Mourn for the king.
Edit:

:stress::cause with recent mabi kr thing they might try new engine and that kind of looks bad if nx na cant update with it correctly.
I am trying to look into this, I have no idea where you got this idea from. Any evidence?
And just to add on to what I was saying earlier, I voted for new content because a new engine won't really change anything given you're drowned with the information of everything from the name of to the date and exact time another person lost their first baby tooth on the other side of town, much moreso everyone standing right next to you. I would rather an option to revive the Mabinogi 2 Project because I know one day if my kids ever played an MMO, I would want a game with a lot of freedom and sense of exploration as Mabinogi is supposed to have, that is actually capable upgrading its engine with the time, unlike Mabinogi: "Fantasy Life".
