It's apparently a drug but it's also apparently a drug.
Yeah. Definitely a drug.
Cocaine has medical applications too, but I never see anyone pushing for the legalization of that.

Because alcohol was already well-established and prohibiting it proved highly ineffective - then again prohibiting other drugs has also already proven highly ineffective...
Also on the point of ineffective; I'd say it's ineffective when according to polls, 52% of americans have tried it in their life, ~10% of americans use it on a regular basis, and nearly 1% of the american population is arrested each year for possession of it, with 750,000 people going to prison for a decade or more for non-violent possession or sales, while it costs the USA $41,000,000,000 (41 billion dollars, 30 billion Euros) in drug hunts every year, ~75% of which is for Marijuana.
If that's not ineffective... I honestly don't know what is.
I agree. We need more effective methods of arresting people who use drugs. The current methods waste far too much money for far too few results, there are still plenty of people out there smoking weed so the police need to crack down and start getting shit done.
Or you know... just let them be. Weed is healthier than cigarette so I don't see the problem in people smoking it.
And stealing candy isn't as bad as shooting someone in the face, does that mean we should let all the thieves go because it isn't 'as bad' ?
I am not talking about the degree of wrongness, I simply don't think it's a crime at all. If you steal from someone you hurt other people, and that constitute a crime, but if you smoke weed you didn't hurt anybody, why would that be wrong?
Your argument was that weed isnt is bad as cigarettes so we should leave it alone.
I countered with stealing isn't as bad as murder so we should leave it alone too.
The lesson: Just because something isn't AS bad doesn't mean it's good.
