NPC artwork

Uh hello

I'm guessing this is a good place to perhaps get some help? I got introduced to this game a few days and I've been having a problem.

For one problem, the character npc artwork when talking is not behind the text box. So its very hard to read in some cases next to impossible. Example: i.imgur.com/IIcT10G.jpg
Now I've tried searching but came up with no results... Actually thought this was normal until I seen some images of the game and how its supposed to be. In fact I spent like 3 hours installing mabinogi on my old bad laptop (despite unplayable speeds unless in a dungeon) the npc artwork works as intended...

Changing font size or any graphics settings don't seem to do anything (and frustratingly annoying any little change turns the screen off for 5 seconds).

Its a rather recent gpu card so judging my laptop must only work on old cards?

Looking at that screenshot it doesn't look like the NPC artwork is in front of the text box but rather that the textbox is transparent making the text too difficult to read.

I don't know if the interface styling options affect that, so maybe play with those options (the color theme of the interface in the main options menu).
Otherwise it might be an unwanted part of a mod pack if you're using any.

Nah, it's a bug in the client and the text box (black in this case) is behind the char artwork. My client does this too, at some point it worked fine.

You should reconsider getting into this game while you still can, man! Ridiculous glitches are the norm here. xd

That's weird, I can read the text on the image, just very difficult since it's white on almost white. Wouldn't be able to read if the NPC art was in front of it.

Well I turned off transparency and it still occurs.

Like missing 4 times in a row with a magnum shot at 100% accuracy? or (idk if this is a bug or not) no way to turn off that auto-use skill thingy where after an windmill or counter I automatically use my ranged attack despite not wanting it. Or that annoying invisible wall in the dungeons when exploring I keep stopping for no reason.
There is tons of bugs in todays games they get away with so I'm quite used to them I guess you can say :)

Well I sit quite far from the monitor so even some of the more darker npc images make the text hard to read. All I can see is "attention to me".

Exactly how its supposed to be on my laptop. My desktop not so much. Even baffling me cause I program in 2D so something as simple as a hud like this being drawn in order, theres no way this is supposed to happen. To me it seems more like the HUD is rendered in 3D so something is messing up the draw order of the npc art and the textbox (not the text since its drawn infront of both the textbox and npc art)

I just been thinking what if its miss alignment, the artwork is supposed to be just above the textbox. Maybe it has to do with resolution. I shall try some things out
