Am...Am I turning into a weeaboo?

  My friend called started calling me a weeaboo a few months back, I never really cared because in my eyes I wasn't one.
  
  Only anime I really really loved and recommend is Cowboy Bebop. I don't care what anyone says Cowboy Bebop should have been the standard on how to make great animes.
  
  Also I liked the Akira movie it was pretty damn great.
  
  I only ever liked two Mangas one was a manga I can't remember the name of, the other is o-parts hunter / 666 Satan.
  
  Also I watched about two-three studio ghibli films they were nice, but aside from that I really don't care about anime or manga.
  
  So you might be asking
  "Why does he consider you a weeaboo and why are you afraid you are one"
  Video games.
  
  I think the "weeaboo"ness started with Etrian Odyssey

  I've played Japanese games like any other person who loves video games but as of recently I'm more excited to play Japanese games more than western ones.

  Also I sometimes enjoy dating sims in games if I like the characters.
  The whole thread started because I posted in an IRC channel saying "Ellie is my waifu".

  You could always teach yourself Japanese so you can prove to people that you're truly interested in Japanese culture and more than just what the entertainment section of Japan has to offer. I feel like that's what most people differentiate weaboos by. A person learning more about the culture of Japan, than a person who's simply in it for the games/comics/shows that come out of it.

  Then he's a Weaboo. And they are super annoying. The "typical" weaboo has no regards to actual Japan culture and only want to be part of Japan because of Otaku culture. Not only that, everything and everything they talk about is how much they want that to be part of their life. Nobody wants a person like that in their life who's just as annoying. Not a "weaboo", not a "furry", not a "gamer" .

  And as I said, just don't talk about it in every topic. If someone brings up something, sure talk about it. If you notice something you want to tell someone, sure, but don't make it part of every conversation. Trust me, I think you would know if you were annoying or not.

  Actually in my experience it's the opposite. People who like the games/anime/whatever are just seen as nerds, whereas weaboos are the people who are clearly NOT Japanese but act like they are, speaking Japanese, eating Japanese food, dressing in kimonos and shit, etc.
  
  At least that's what I've seen in my time on the internet.

  Anime and Japanese culture is interesting and all, and imitating the language is fun every now and then, but I think it takes a lot more to be a "serious" weeaboo.
  (I personally don't mind any of it, everyone has their own interests, go "OMG KAWAII DESU DESU" all you want!)

  If you go on the video game forums, you notice there's a lot of people who won't play anime looking games just because they look anime-ish or even japanese games because they're japanese. Just tell your friend to continue playing cod.

  To me weaboo is a person who wants to be as Japanese as they possibly can even though they have nothing to do with that culture. Has nothing to do with liking anime or other Japanese-made media. Otaku might be more accurate, basically means you're a nerd for a certain subject, but it doesn't even look like you qualify for that.
