Mabinogi engine getting changed?

This is an archive of the mabination.com forums which were active from 2010 to 2018. You can not register, post or otherwise interact with the site other than browsing the content for historical purposes. It's hard to imagine Maple being bloated. I remember when my Pentium 4 laptop ran it fairly well... except at Zakum. I then built a Core 2 Duo system with 2GB of RAM and had an uber OP computer at the time. v:

Then again, Maple's installer is over 5GB worth of data now. That's kinda crazy.

The only thing pointing towards anything about the Mabinogi changing was a user written article that wasn't affiliated with devcat in any shape or form. That article was merely giving suggestions on what devcat COULD do and had been talking about the sahara and plieone engine in it.

We had it translated but never mentioned it because it was just that, a user written article with no solid backing or foundation to it.

Only mention this as it seems that's where this rumor may have come from.

Not impossible; several botters have their own clients. It's entirely feasible for us to get a complete revamp, all it has to do is emulate the client/server responses from the existing in a shiny new better done packaging. That's quite easy, especially for the people who have the original source, if tedious and time consuming.

It's just highly implausible that they'd bother.
