On ...the wiki, The formula for the hydra skill is ..
[{(Base Damage + Clay Damage Enchants + (Remaining Stamina * 0.08)) * [1 + 3 * (Alchemy Mastery Bonus + Clay Alchemy Bonus)]} * Critical Modifier - Enemy Defense]
* (1 - Enemy Protection) * Cylinder Modifier * Elemental Modifier
....Would this mean that every hit of Hydra Transmutation gets the critical hit modifier?

I would assume no... it probably is given a value of 1 when you don't crit.

Can ...hydra even crit? O.o I don't think I've ever seen it do that. o-o

I don't have the skill... you could use it in say ep 4 finale and see if some of the hits are 1.5x or whatever the bonus crit damage is. I would guess that it can crit, since I don't think there are any combat skills that don't crit. I would guess that since you're not connected to the skill after using it that you aren't told when it crits.

Mirage Missile DoT, Dischord DoT, and Puppet Snare DoT are all unable to crit. Hydra as a DoT would follow that trend.
Or at the least, they have a Crit Modifier of +0 like Shadow Spirit.
It's easier to say people are copy/paste happy.

There's also no Clay Damage Enchants, unless you count Alchemy Damage ones. I'll never understand why alchemy damage formulas are written with critical and enemy defensive stats included; the protection part of the formula is outdated and the enemy defense may or may not include piercing.

Some skills and modifiers ignore Defense and/or Protection, making it impact the final damage. Flame Burst for example.
Instead of factoring out these special cases, whoever wrote/copied the formula must have decided to leave it in for all skills regardless of relevancy.

I think I get what you're trying to say, but flameburst doesn't ignore defense nor protection. Not unless you're separating it mdef/prot.

Thought it only ignores protection when calculating critical chance.. Other then that it's affect by defense and protection.

Yeah, I'm sure it takes them into account for damage. o: Just not for critical.

It doesn't(/didn't) completely ignore Def/Prot but certain aspects of it does(/did).
It was easily noticeable because rF Flame Burst, which did like 10 base damage, would still do more than 1s on Elite mobs.

The def/prot ignoring part of Flame Burst comes from the damage listed under "Additional damage." Additional damage is also the only part of Flame Burst that benefits from Fire Alchemy and Alchemy Mastery.
