Mabi needs gold sinks though.

It slows/prevents inflation of gold.

Want gold sinks?
Make a 100% repair NPC with a higher repair cost then 98%.

Requesting a higher fix rate? The repair rate is where it is at because the slow and eventually destruction of equipment functions both as a gold sink and a motivational factor for recycling items.
Mabinogi suffers from a design very different from other typical mmorpgs in that there is far less power creep in equipment releases. Other mmo's tend to release better equipment with each patch (usually in the form of item levels or tiers), forcing players to constantly discard their current gear for newer and more relevant gear on every update. Mabinogi still allows players to stay relevant using their favorite equipment, meaning that the developers had to find a way to force you to get new equipment eventually.
I imagine that with a lot of play testing, they've determined the current best option for repair chance is the best rate of item recycling.

Honestly, that's what I like about mabinogi, you can keep the same equipment for a very long time, the enchanting, upgrading and reforging aspects would kinda be considered a form of "tier'ing", but then again, Mabinogi is very different from other generic MMOs.
On my first first post, I honestly wouldn't mind paying 300% or even 500% of the 98% repair cost for 100% repairs.
Then again, the Durability/repair system is due for a spit and shine.

It's going to annoy me more if VIP players don't have to do it. They really haven't put much effort into gold sinks as of late.
Edit:
Also note that durability usage doesn't force people to recycle weapons, we do have the option to buy Platinum Hammers and use protection potions on them. The durability system was designed for weapons worth a fraction of the cost of the ones we use now, with no special upgrade, reforges, rarely more than one enchant which was basically never above rA, and quite often not even fully upgraded.

I have no problem with fees or repairs, just only wish that platinum hammers were guarenteed to be constantly around even at the rate they are currently though I would much rather them be from an ingame method rather than gacha. My reason being that it is safer to purchase a platinum hammer to fix equipment than it is to buy nx from a player to protect it and I would really much rather do both of these than to protect it on my own dime or watch my precious equips rot and die.

More like Nexon wants to force people to spend NX to protect their cherished equipment.

No. I don't. Put in the other things that KR's VIP service offers like Commerce Penalty Removal and Unlimited Talent Title changing.

Does that include regular titles too? That'd be nice. Im actually surprised that isn't already in VIP.
