So both of these movies came out in DVD lately and I thought I'd pick them up

I loved 12 years a slave even though the entire movie broke my heart
I love/hate watching movies about slavery because on one hand I think they're almost always interesting but it saddens me that slavery was actually a thing and baffles me how we, as humans could tolerate treating people that way
I'd like slavery movies more if slavery were like a fictional concept that never really happened

There was one scene in particular that had me very disturbed and with tears in my eyes
The song "Run" sung by Dano, don't get me wrong he was perfect for the part but he sung it with such happiness it scared me and gave me chills down my spine

At first I didn't think I could sit through all of it but I'm glad I did

The only slavery movie I ever enjoyed to my recollection was Django. All the other ones are just too serious/drama. I don't watch that kind of thing very often regardless of the subject.

Wolf of wall street was entertaining though. Very funny and some good scenes but I did find it a bit too long and they overdid the drugs/hookers a bit, after a while I got the point that that was their lifestyle.

it's the world we live in splat
you probably don't understand, but somewhere somehow, people have started to use their religion for this
and they think they're right because im pretty sure, somewhere in the history of the bible being republished, somebody has changed the verses and writings around to fit their ideals

12 Years is a great movie, but pretty tough to watch if you're iffy about sexual assault/abuse like I am. I almost didn't want to watch it for awhile too, after I saw a bunch of crap on Tumblr saying something like "ohh the only reason white people even like the movie is 'cause of white guilt!1". /eyeroll

And Wolf was just comedic genius, plain and simple. The "cerebral palsy phase" is a huge inside joke between my Mom and I now.
