Control of darkness' taming success rate

With 2 x +1000cp weapons, taming something with only 2400cp takes a huge amount of fomor scrolls.

Does a high ranked animal taming increase the success rate?

I've only ever heard of it the other way around; Control of Darkness supposedly affects Wild Animal Taming, and even those affects aren't well document. I dug around and couldn't find anything helpful.
