In the future as mankind's space technology matures, there will be a demand for more economic ship production. One of the cost saving solution in ship making is to remove ships' ability to re-enter planet atmosphere. Space docks will be built in high orbit for ships to dock, and then specialize smaller shuttles or ships will then take passenger or cargo down to or from planetary surface. To further save cost, space ladder will be constructed to replace shuttles as primary transportation from surface to space. Over time, ships with ability to enter atmosphere will be phased out completely.

And then a movie will be made about the last ship that can enter atmospheres and how it saves the earth somehow.

I assume movies, TV, any purely visual media will be severely diminished at that point in favor of interactive medium more akin to video games of the present. Think of future movies similar to how we see books and radio today. Depend on where we are with cybernetics and enhanced reality, we may have neuro networks that allow us to interact with the plot of what you suggested in a virtual reality kind of fashion when we download it.
Edit: Oh and it's possible we will move toward enhancement of other sensory organs such as taste, smell and touch and combine it with interactive medium so purely visual medium will probably phase out too at some point.

My future prediction: The sun will expload and earth and it's existence will be vaporized within less then a second.

I think our sun will become white dwarf and later turn into a black hole. Other suns might explode but ours doesn't have the mass for it.

We'll still die, nonetheless.

ships that can re-enter a planet's atmosphere will never phase out unless we don't plan to explore anything.
Might not be needed for earth once there's space elevators everywhere but what would we do for every other planet? To make it even more complicated they'll all have varying atmospheres so we'll have to be able to adjust for that.

Good point. I suppose they will exist but in limited capacity, acting as specialist vessels. Considering the fact that making ship with reentry capability will be much more expensive than regular ships I think these will be either reserved for corporations or government organizations.
